Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall Coming To Ewing Park

The Ellwood City American Legion Post 157 is hosting the Vietnam Moving Wall in Ewing Park on August 18th through August 22nd. The event is free to the public. The Moving Wall will be located in the same area of Ewing Park as the Festival. Ellwood City Summer Playground Program To Begin June 15

The Borough of Ellwood City is now taking registration forms for its Summer Playground Program for residents of Ellwood City. The program will begin on Wednesday, June 15th and it will run Monday through Friday (weather permitting and excluding holiday breaks), from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The program is for children 5-12 years of age. Lunch will be provided. Transportation is also available via bus. A rainy forecast did not deter hundreds of hoppy-go-lucky kids from taking part in the annual Ellwood City Easter Egg Hunt in Ewing Park on Saturday. The event started at 11:00 a.m. amid overcast skies and ran throughout the early afternoon with hunts for all ages. Additional events included a petting zoo, pony rides, trackless train, and a Kid’s Zone in the Rotary Shelter, which featured crafts, face painting, games and various other activities in the Bocce Court will be games. The days event are provided through The Ellwood Area Egg Hunt Committee.

Kitchen Cabinet Planning Kids Created Kingdom Clean Up

With the annual Ellwood City Easter Egg Hunt event scheduled on Saturday, the Ellwood City Kitchen Cabinet is planning and organizing a clean up at the Kids Created Kingdom in Ewing Park on Tuesday, April 5th. According to its social media page, the non-profit plans to rake up the leaves inside and along the fence outside of the large kids playground feature.  The clean up is planned for 6:00 p.m. Two years ago the clean up was done within two hours because of extra volunteer help. Ewing Park Gets ‘Paw-some’ New Addition Thanks to Reed’s Services

Life can be “Ruff.” But not for the dogs in Ewing Park thanks to Reed’s Services. Located at the intersection near the Kids Creative Kingdom is a doggy destination: A new treat and waste station. The five-star, bright red, dog box is quite “fetching” and is full of yummy goodies. Reed’s is known for supporting Ellwood City, in fact this treat station, fully funded and donated by Reed’s, was inspired by their Christmas Tree during Ewing Park’s Christmas in the Park. Ewing Park Skateboard Area Gets Lights

Skaters will no longer have to do tricks and jumps in the dark while skateboarding in Ewing Park. Lights have been added to the skateboard park, and according to Councilman Caleb Cragle, the project itself and the cost of the lighting are minimal. Cragle is the Parks and Recreation Chair for the borough and said he spends a lot of time in the park with his daughter. PHOTOS: New Wooden Bridge Constructed In Ewing Park

In July, a new little attraction was added into Ewing Park – a cute little wooden bridge surrounded by hand painted rocks and some flowers. The idea was born in the spring by the Director of Public Works, Randy Gatto. Gatto wanted to create a peaceful place for families to use as a memory maker. He hopes it’ll be used for family portraits or even for recently engaged couples to take pictures at. COVID-19 Friendly Community Nights

This weekend and into the week, two organizations have decided to host COVID-19 friendly community night events. On Friday, July 24, there will be an outdoor movie night and concert hosted at the Ewing Park Stage. Food will be served at 7:00 and on the menu is meatball sandwiches, penne, salad, deserts, and drinks. To meet CDC requirements for food, all those serving will be masked and gloved. Ellwood City Playground Program To Resume

Despite a temporary setback last week with a temporary suspension, the Ellwood City Playground Program is resuming. According to information made available by borough, the Playground Program at Ewing Park will resume Tuesday June 23rd at the regularly scheduled times. The program was temporarily suspended after it was notified an individual that participates in the program on a daily basis was exposed to an individual who has tested positive for Covid-19.
