Playground Program Temporarily Suspended

According to a social media post by the organizers Wednesday night, the Ellwood City Playground Program has been temporarily suspended. According to the post: “Effective Thursday June 18th, the Playground Program at Ewing Park is temporarily suspended. Ellwood City Summer Playground Program Announced

The Ellwood City Summer Playground Program will begin Friday, June 12, 2020. Early registration will take place thru Friday June 12 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Shelter #5 in Ewing Park. Proof an “Ellwood City Area School District” address (utility bill, taxes, etc.) and the Driver’s License of the parent/guardian are required.  Registration will also be available from Friday June 12th – Friday June 19th.  You must register your child before they are allowed to participate. Ellwood City To Close Public Parks & Rec Facilities

According to a release made available by the borough, Ellwood City will be closing some of its parks and recreational facility effective immediately. According to the statement, the Borough of Ellwood City is closing some of its parks and recreational facilities to try to get in front of any potential community spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. 25th Annual Ellwood City Easter Egg Hunt Date Announced

Ellwood Area Egg Hunt Committee will be holding its 25th community Easter Egghunt for all area children ages 10 and under. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, April 4th, starting at 11:00 a.m. in Ewing Park. Every year hundreds of children swarm the park grounds to enjoy a spring day with lots of eggs, candy, and prizes for all participants. Adult Dance Party/Karaoke Night to Make Waves at Ewing Park Pool

Although Councilwoman Marilyn Mancini doesn’t plan to sing at the Adult Dance Party/Karaoke Night, she invites everyone to stop by and say hello at the gate. Hundreds of children, of all ages, swarmed the Ewing Park grounds on a spring-like Saturday for the 24th Annual Ellwood City Easter Egg Hunt. According to their social media page, “[the hunt] had roughly 720 children lots of candy got handed out.along with cookies from Eat N Park. This was one of the best attendance we have had in a long time. The support we got from our community was amazing” The free event featured over 9,000 colored eggs and 30 golden eggs handed out. Festival Committee Cancels Fireworks

The beloved Ellwood City Festival Fireworks have been canceled. The announcement came from Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Foods and Entertainment Festival Committee. “The Festival budget exceeds $60,000 each year, and as you probably know, prices don’t come down, they go up,” the committee said. “The total budget covers police protection, trash pick-up, porta-johns, cleaning service, use of the park, fireworks, entertainment, advertising, insurance, and more. Kids Created Kingdom 20th Anniversary Celebration

Twenty years ago, it took 5 days for an empty space in Ewing Park to become a 15,000 square foot playground. Within those 20 years, the playground has undergone many changes and become a cornerstone of Ewing Park. Most recently and earlier this summer, the Kids Created Kingdom added a wheelchair accessible swing to the list of features in the playground for use. The festival is a beloved community event that had featured free activities for children and professional storytellers.
