Ellwood City Area School District to Stage ‘Shrek the Musical’

The Ellwood City Area School District will proudly stage its annual musical next month. The school is presenting “Shrek The Musical” with a cast of over 75 high-school students and children bringing the fairy tale characters to life. Shrek the Musical is a Tony-award winning Broadway musical based on the Oscar-winning fairytale adventure of the same name. Shrek (played by Jack Brown) is the story of an unlikely hero who begrudgingly sets on a journey to rescue the feisty princess Fiona (played by Hayley Wright) who has a secret. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. – “Family Laptime,” designed for babies as young as 6 months of age, toddlers, and preschoolers. PA Water Announces Community Open House At New $50 Million Water Treatment Plant

NEW BEAVER, Pa.  – Pennsylvania American Water announced today that the company will be hosting a community open house at its recently completed $50 million water treatment plant on Saturday, Nov 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Located in New Beaver Borough, the new treatment facility serves approximately 18,000 customers in southern Lawrence and Butler Counties and northeastern Beaver County. Surviving the Holidays: Coping With Grief During The Holidays

Wondering how you will survive the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving and Christmas? North Sewickley Presbyterian Church Hosting ‘Trunk Or Treat’

North Sewickley Presbyterian Church is hosting a “Trunk Or Treat” event on Sunday, October 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is a safer way for children can trick or treat with car trunks decorated in our parking lot. Along with the decorated trunks, we will have a few games for them. According to the church, currently there are about 18 cars ready to decorate their trunks and hand out candy. 5th Annual R.O.A.R. Haunted Hayride and Maze Announced

The 5th Annual Haunted Hayride and Maze, sponsored by Riverside Outdoor Athletic Renovation (ROAR), has announced its dates for the year. Ride the hay wagon through the woods with scare stations throughout. New scenes and special effects from OMEGA FX will be on display. A walk-through maze is included with your admission. VIDEO: McDonald’s Re-Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

After a five-week closure for full renovations, the local McDonald’s restaurant reopened on Monday, October 7th with a VIP Breakfast and official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Guests of honor included PA State Rep. Aaron Bernstine, Mayor of Ellwood City, Anthony Court, Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Ellwood City Police Department. Penn State Extension in Lawrence County presents Anger Management Classes. Classes will be October 22, 29, and November 5th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm located at the New Castle Public Library.
