Ellwood City Library Activities For The Week Of November 5

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5 In observance of Veteran’s Day the Ellwood City Area Public Library will be closed. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.- “Family Laptime,” designed for babies as young as 6 month of age, toddlers, and preschoolers. Wampum Announces Annual Christmas Parade

It’s that time again and plans are underway for the 46th annual Wampum Area Christmas Parade. The parade will be held on Saturday, December 1st at 1:00 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Wampum America Legion Post 749, American Legion Auxiliary, Wampum Lions Club, Wampum Area Women’s Club, and Wampum Area Business Association. A special feature of the parade is giving treats to the children, in the Wampum Area that are between the ages of 1-12 and who are registered, by Santa. Ellwood City United Fund Board’s Annual Campaign Continues Through November

The Ellwood City United Fund Board announced its 2019 annual campaign fund drive last month. The campaign started October 1, 2018 and will conclude January 31, 2019. The Boards Selection Committee has chosen six service agencies to seek funds for the year 2019. The Agencies selected: City Rescue Mission, L.A.R.K. Enterprises, People-in-Need, Ellwood City Public Library, Human Services-Unicenter, and Rita Hazen Education Foundation. The Boy and Girl Scouts will receive an annual donation to fund the various programs that promote scouting. The Allocation Committee will review the agencies needs and allocate funds in January 2019. It’s that time of the year again, EllwoodCity.org is having our annual Halloween Costume Contest. Submissions begin on October 29, and go on through end-of-business hours on Friday, November 2. All photos appear on EllwoodCity.org’s Facebook page on Monday, November 5 . Then, voting will begin as soon as the photo gallery is published and continues on until 8:00 a.m. Monday, November 12. Penn State Cooperative Extension Offers ServSafe Food Safety Certification

NEW CASTLE, PA – According to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, licensed food establishments must have all persons in charge successfully complete a food safety training class. Completing the necessary training and passing the associated exam brings licensed food establishments into compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) Food Employee Certification Act. To help food establishments meet this requirement, Penn State Extension is offering a Food Safety Training Course. The course will be held at the New Castle Public Library, located at 207 E. Date Released For Town Hall Meeting Regarding The EC Medical Center

On Wednesday, November 7, Ellwood City residents will finally have their chance to ask their looming questions about the recent happenings and what the future entails for the Ellwood City Medical Center as a Town Hall Meeting has been scheduled. Operation Safe Stop Highlights National School Bus Safety Week

On Wednesday, October 24, the 22nd annual Operation Safe Stop will be conducted in communities across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This event is apart of National School Bus Safety Week, which runs from Monday, October 22 to Friday, October 26. Operation Safe Stop is a public awareness and enforcement effort to educate the public that passing a stopped school bus, especially when children are loading or unloading, is both dangerous and illegal.
