The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that the closure of the Route 65 bridge over Connoquenessing Creek, located between Franklin and North Sewickley Townships, has been extended.
Route 65 will remain closed between Country Club Road and Mercer Road (Route 1006) through 6:00 PM on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
Crews from Swank Construction Company will continue installing the new precast modular concrete bridge structure.
The closure will remain in effect around the clock, and all traffic must continue to follow the posted detours.
Passenger Vehicle Detour:
- From Route 65, follow Chapel Drive → Celia Road → Shadyrest Road → Route 288 → Route 65/River Road.
Motorists traveling in the opposite direction should follow the detour in reverse.
Truck Detours:
- Separate truck detours remain in place using Routes 588, 18, and 351. Truck drivers should follow the posted detour signs.
The bridge spans the Connoquenessing Creek between Mercer Road in Franklin Township and Country Club Drive in North Sewickley Township.
Additional work includes drainage improvements, sign upgrades, pavement marking installation, and planting and seeding areas impacted by construction activities. The overall $9.45M project is expected to finish in the spring of 2027.
