Road Closures (Again) Due To Flooding

According to the NWS Pittsburgh, Thursday brought 2.77″ of rain shattering a 90-year-mark, and Thursday was the 25th wettest day on record (records back to 1871) for the Pittsburgh area.  This is already the 3rd wettest April on record according to NWS Pittsburgh records. PennDOT District 11 is advising motorists that portions of the following state roadways are closed or restricted due to flooding as of noon on Friday 4/12/24: Beaver County Route 51 (Constitution Boulevard) between Cove Hill Road and Fallston Street in Fallston Borough – Lane Restriction Route 65 between Mercer Road and Country Club Drive in North…


VIDEO: North Sewickley Township Flooding

In a video made available Wednesday by Manns Woodland Perspective, portions of North Sewickley Township are shown under water as the recent rain event led to high water levels and flooding of the Connoquenessing Creek. The creek reached recorded gage heights as high as 15.23 ft, recorded at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Many state and local roadways were closed and continued to be closed due to the flooding. 


Ellwood City Wolves Club Den Celebrates Christmas

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II celebrated Christmas at the Connequenessing Country Club on Wednesday December 13. A buffet dinner of beef, chicken marsala. Shrimp linguine, corn zucchini blend, potatoes was enjoyed by 56 members, guests, wives and significant others. Santa Claus arrived and distributed candy, poinsettia’s and wine to some lucky guests. Ellwood City Wolves Den II February Meeting Recap

The Ellwood City Wolves Den II met at the Connequenessing Country Club on Wednesday February 8, 2023. The members welcomed new member Rich Griffith. The members voted to keep the current Board of Directors, consisting of nine members, for another three years. The club conducts three fundraisers that support their scholarship fund during the year. PENNDOT Announces Country Club Bridge Replacement Project

PennDot Engineering District 11-0 will be replacing the bridge over the Connoquenessing Creek on S.R. 0065 (Mercer Road) in a project set to commence in the summer of 2025. The project is currently in the preliminary engineering phase with the expectation of starting the final design phase in early 2023. The project is anticipated to let (i.e. bids for construction to be opened) during the first half of 2024 with the traffic detour implemented in the summer of 2025. A major weather event brought persistent rain to the area throughout the day on Thursday leading to major flooding concerns and local road closures. Below is aerial video footage of the flood damages of the Connoquenessing River near the Riverside School District and the Connoqunessing Country Club.  The river crested and put parts of Mercer Road and Country Club Drive underwater. Connoquenessing Creek Nominated For PA River Of The Year – VOTE!

The Allegheny Aquatic Alliance needs your help! The Connoquenessing Creek was just nominated for Pennsylvania’s River of the Year! It is one of five nominations picked out of hundreds of submissions. Over time this local waterway had been neglected and abused leading to its rating as the 2nd most polluted waterway in America in 2000. Since then through Allegheny Aquatic Alliance and other organizations’ efforts, significant positive changes have been made to this creek and have resulted in the restoration of it. 7th Annual Connoquenessing Creek Clean Up This Weekend

The Allegheny Aquatic Alliance is organizing the Connoquenessing Creek Clean Up on Saturday. Teams will be dispersed along the Connoquenessing Creek — Conni — starting at McKim Way, across the creek from Riverside High School, and ending at Rock Point, where the Conni meets the Beaver River. Registration for the clean up day begins at 8 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 220 Fountain Ave. in Ellwood City. From 8 to 9 a.m., teams will be assigned, supplies and snacks will be dispersed and a safety talk will be conducted. Teams typically start removing garbage from the creek around 10:30 a.m….
