Route 65 Bridge Closure Extended Through October 31st

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that the closure of the Route 65 bridge over Connoquenessing Creek, located between Franklin and North Sewickley Townships, has been extended. Route 65 will remain closed between Country Club Road and Mercer Road (Route 1006) through 6:00 PM on Saturday, October 31, 2026. Crews from Swank Construction Company will continue installing the new precast modular concrete bridge structure. The closure will remain in effect around the clock, and all traffic must continue to follow the posted detours. Franklin Township Awarded Hereford Manor Lakes Grant Award

Franklin Township is excited to announce that the Township has been awarded a $170,400 grant through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Community Conservation Partnerships Program for the Hereford Manor Lakes Property Acquisition, Greenspace and Conservation Project! Funding for projects comes from a variety of sources including the state Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund, Environmental Stewardship Fund, ATV and Snowmobile Management Restricted Accounts, and Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program; and the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund and Recreational Trails Program. Franklin Township Board of Supervisors Shares Update On Hereford Manor Lake Property

The Franklin Township Board of Supervisors has shared an update on our efforts to acquire and preserve the Hereford Manor Lake property. According to the township, it currently has an agreement with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to purchase approximately 392 acres of the Hereford Manor property for $470,400. Thanks to the generosity of residents, local businesses, and surrounding communities, the township has received over $39,806.29 in donations. The township is also extremely grateful to the Beaver County Sportsman’s Conservation League for committing $100,000 toward the project. Franklin Township Hosting National Night Out Next Tuesday, August 4th

Franklin Township will holding their Annual National Night Out Event on Tuesday, August 4th, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Franklin Plaza in Ellwood City. Volunteers Needed For Franklin Township Parks & Rec Committee

The Franklin Township Board of Supervisors is seeking volunteers to serve on the newly established Parks & Recreation Committee. The committee will advise the Board on parks, trails, open space, recreation facilities, community events, grant opportunities, fundraising, and future recreation projects throughout the Township. This includes Franklin Township Community Park and the future Hereford Manor Lakes property, which the Township is working to acquire from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to preserve as permanent green space for future generations. Franklin Township residents are invited to participate in a township clean-up day planned for Saturday, May 2, 2026. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and last until 2:00 p.m. for township residents. The Franklin Township Board of Supervisors is seeking community support for an important initiative—the acquisition and preservation of the Hereford Manor Lake property. Franklin Township has two volunteer openings on the Planning Commission Board. Interested applicants must be Township residents. Please email a brief statement of interest and information about yourself to twpsecretary@franklintwpbeavercopa.gov by February 27. The Planning Commission is an advisory board appointed by the Board of Supervisors to review zoning, subdivision, and land development matters. On Sunday, December 21st, Santa Claus will be escorted by the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department to see all of the good girls and boys this holiday weekend.
