Franklin Township is excited to announce that the Township has been awarded a $170,400 grant through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Community Conservation Partnerships Program for the Hereford Manor Lakes Property Acquisition, Greenspace and Conservation Project!
Funding for projects comes from a variety of sources including the state Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund, Environmental Stewardship Fund, ATV and Snowmobile Management Restricted Accounts, and Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program; and the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund and Recreational Trails Program.
Combined with the previously awarded $300,000 Local Share Account (LSA) grant, the Township has now secured $470,400 in grant awards, equaling the full agreed purchase price of the approximately 392-acre property!
“We sincerely appreciate the generosity and support of our residents, local organizations, community partners, and everyone who has contributed toward preserving Hereford Manor Lakes. The Township will be reaching out to previous donors individually to discuss their contributions,” the township wrote in an email statement.
Although the acquisition process is not yet complete according to the township, this is a tremendous milestone toward preserving this beautiful property for future generations!
“Thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible!”
The township began seeking community support earlier this year for the acquisition and preservation of the Hereford Manor Lake property.
