Franklin Township Board of Supervisors Shares Update On Hereford Manor Lake Property

The Franklin Township Board of Supervisors has shared an update on our efforts to acquire and preserve the Hereford Manor Lake property.

According to the township, it currently has an agreement with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to purchase approximately 392 acres of the Hereford Manor property for $470,400.

Thanks to the generosity of residents, local businesses, and surrounding communities, the township has received over $39,806.29 in donations. The township is also extremely grateful to the Beaver County Sportsman’s Conservation League for committing $100,000 toward the project. Along with the $300,000 grant previously secured by the Township, the board advises they are making significant progress toward its goal.

The Township’s goal is to preserve this property as public greenspace for future generations, providing opportunities for recreation, wildlife habitat preservation, watershed protection, and environmental education.

“We sincerely thank everyone who has donated and supported this effort,” said the board in a statement. “Every contribution, large or small, helps bring us closer to making this project a reality.”

Checks may be made payable to Franklin Township and designated for the Hereford Manor Lake Property. Donations to Franklin Township for public greenspace may be tax-deductible under Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code for those who itemize deductions. Donors should obtain written acknowledgment from the Township and consult a tax professional regarding eligibility.
