Ellwood City Library Activities For Week of October 1st

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include: MONDAY, OCTOBER 1 THROUGH SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6 – The Library’s Annual Book Sale will take place. Hours are 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Friday; and 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Monday will also feature a bake sale. Penn State Extension Lawrence County Holds 2018 Ag Encounter

Penn State Extension Lawrence County is hosting its annual Ag Encounter on Tuesday, October 2 and Wednesday, October 3 at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds. Approximately 800 fourth grade students from the public and private schools in Lawrence County will participate. They will rotate through twelve stations where educators will teach them about local agriculture and livestock. Students will learn about agriculture in Lawrence County, its place as the leading industry in the county and the various steps get the food from the farm to their table. Eastern Star Soup Supper This Weekend

The Eastern Star Soup Supper will be held  this weekend.  The event will be Friday, September 28th from 12:00 p.m to 6:30 p.m and is open to the public. The supper will be at Christ Presbyterian Church, located at 4th Street and Spring Avenue in Ellwood City, PA. Cost of the dinner will be $7.00 for adults, children from 4 to 12 years of age will be $5.00, and children 3 years and younger eat free. Historical Society To Plan ‘History on the Street’ Event

The Ellwood City Historical Society held a special meeting to prepare for the upcoming Ellwood City Fall Festival and Car Show. The Society decided to hold a display outside the History Center on Fifth Street. The event will be called, “History on the Street.”  Featured items will be the Ellwood Sign that has lighted the way for the Arts Crafts and Food festival for over 30 years. Bernstine to Host Concealed Carry Rights and Safety Seminar

ELLWOOD CITY – As a way for local residents to further understand their rights with respect to the state’s firearms laws and protections, Rep. Municipal Women’s Club Host Las Vegas Impersonator Tim Beasley

The Ellwood City Municipal Women’s Club hosts the Las Vegas Impersonator Tim Beasley on Saturday, October 20 at 7:00pm with doors opening at 6:00pm. Event will take place at the SOI Hall on Lawrence Avenue.  Tim Beasley has 32 years of experience as a performer traveling the country doing shows in a variety of venues; including Las Vegas. Beasley will be performing a two hour show impersonating Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Tony Bennett. Ellwood City Community Enrichment and the Ellwood City Area Public Library hosted Ellwood City’s 17th Storytelling Festival on Saturday, September 15, 2018 in Ewing Park. The festival is a beloved community event that had featured free activities for children and professional storytellers. Katy’s Homestyle Bakery, Custom Cakes by Jodie, and an ice cream truck had been set up for attendees to purchase sweets. There was also free balloon art, face painting, and horse-drawn trolley rides. Ellwood-Wampum Rod and Gun Club Results

The Ellwood-Wampum Rod and Gun Club in Wayne Township held a turkey shoot on Tuesday, September 4. The turkey shoot winners were Tom O’Brien, Paul H. Redmond, Larry Baker, and Aaron Kelly. Kelly was a double winner, and Jim Spielvogel won the door prize. Due to Tuesday turkey shoots, trap shoots have been moved to Thursdays. Sign-ups for both trap and turkey shoots begin at 6 p.m. Trap shoot participants should bring extra protection as well as a box of 25 count shells and $3 for each round they plan on shooting in. Local Church To Host A Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

Members of North Sewickley Presbyterian Church will be serving up a spaghetti dinner as a fundraiser on Saturday September 22 beginning at 4:30 p.m. The menu is spaghetti and meatballs; garlic bread; salad with dressing; dessert, and drinks for adults and children. The cost for this meal is $8.00 for adults (13 & up), $4.00 for children (4 – 12) and children under 4 free.
