Sip, savor, and support ECR at their Annual Winter Wine and Brew Fest event on January 27th, 2024! Ellwood City Revitalization (ECR) is a non-profit organization that has dedicated more than $35,000 to improvement projects in downtown Ellwood City in the past 6 years. Ellwood City Boys Basketball Game Postponed

UPDATE (01/22/24): The Ellwood City boys basketball game against New Brighton that was postponed will be made up on January 31st  According to information made available by the school district, the Ellwood City boys basketball game scheduled at New Brighton Friday night has been postponed. No further information or reschedule date has been announced as of noon on Friday. Borough Offering Christmas Tree Disposal

According to information made available by the Borough of Ellwood City, residents may drop off live Christmas trees (decorations removed) at Stiefel Park now through January 31, 2024. The announcement was made at Monday’s regularly scheduled borough council meeting. Treecycling is a process that grinds old, unwanted live trees into other useful materials — mainly mulch. Camp Allegheny Received State Grant For Improvement Project

HARRISBURG – The Salvation Army Camp Allegheny was among those receiving state grants announced by Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47) today. Frieda Theresia Pitelka, 93

Mrs. Frieda Theresia Pitelka, 93, of Ellwood City passed away the afternoon of January 14, 2024 at Quality Life Service of New Castle. Born in Zemun, Yugoslavia on August 23, 1930, Frieda was the daughter of the late Josef and Jovanika (Dragutinovic) Viola. Frieda married her beloved husband Frank Pitelka in Austria on September 11, 1948. They had made their home in Ellwood City since 1952. After sixty-nine years of marriage Frank preceded her in death in 2018. Frieda was a homemaker and well known for her baking skills. Ellwood City collected a section victory on the road Tuesday night, picking up a 58-32 victory over the Riverside Panthers. Audrey J. Latshaw, 100, of Ellwood City beloved mother and grandmother passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on January 11, 2024 at the Cambridge Falls Retirement Home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 21, 1923, in Pittsburgh to the late George W. and Grace (Dierker) Huff. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Paul E. who passed away January 21, 2010. Officer Robert Bird Receives A Commendation For Life Saving Act

Officer Robert Bird received a commendation from Mayor Anthony J. Court for his heroic acts that saved a man’s life. Officer Bird was dispatched to a vehicle that crashed into a residence on Orchard Avenue in Ellwood City last week. Upon arrival he encountered a truck that caught fire. The driver of which was trapped inside suffering from a medical emergency.
