Ellwood City Junior High Softball Team Improves Record to 4-1 After Win Against Riverside

The Ellwood City Junior High Softball Team improved their season record to 4-1 after a victory against their cross town rival Riverside on Monday night. In the month of April, the team has only suffered a 9-5 loss to Mohawk and is currently on a four game win streak. In their last game against Riverside, the Wolverines took care of business 10-1 with pitchers Emma Bogacki and Amber McQuiston leading the way. Belzyck and Kralic Shine for Riverside in Beaver County Championships

The Beaver County Championships were held this past Saturday at Riverside High School and teams from all over Beaver County came to compete at one of the first big invitational of the 2021 season. Seniors Colby Belzyck and Graham Kralic from Riverside High School each took first place in more than one event to propel the Panthers to another championship. The Panthers won the invitational in 2019, but last years meet was cancelled due to COVID-19. Two Area Clean-Up Days Announced

Both Brush Creek Park and River Road have scheduled Clean-Up Days in the month of April. Brush Creek has scheduled their Clean-Up Day for Thursday, April 22nd from Noon until Dusk. ASSAULT: A 27-year-old female from New Castle is charged with Simple Assault and Harrassment after an incident on April 10 in Wayne Township, Lawrence County. According to the PA State Police report, Caitlin Gardner engaged in a verbal altercation with her 56-year-old mother that led to Gardner pushing her mother as she left her residence on Ellwood Road. James L. Hoover, 93

James L. Hoover, 93, of Austintown, Ohio, passed away at the Austin Wood Care Facility on April 14, 2021. James was born in Ellwood City on April 13, 1928, son to the late Leo and Lillian Kistner Hoover. After graduating from high school, James enlisted in the United States Navy and was discharged with honors. He married his first wife, Margaret King, in 1952, and after her passing, he married Shirleen Porter on May 29, 1971, who also preceded James in death. Lawrence County Announces $500M In Grant Funding For Paving Projects

Lawrence County is announcing $523,291.51 in grant funding for municipal paving projects through the Lawrence County Transportation Improvement Program, assisting with $1,590,708.04 in total paving project cost for 21 projects in 14 municipalities. “We’re glad to be able to assist our municipalities with this much needed infrastructure funding.
