POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

BURGLARY: On April 30, at approximately 12:50 p.m., New Castle Patrol Unit responded to a report of a burglary at a storage unit on Wampum Road in Wayne Township. Petrak Among Twelve Ohio State Swimmers Taking Part In Olympic Trials

Taylor Petrak is among 12 Ohio State University men’s and women’s swimmers that will be competing this weekend, June 4-7, in Omaha, Neb., during Wave I competition. The trials are being held at the CHI Health Center, in Omaha. Petrak, a 5’8″ Buckeye Senior, will compete in the 50-yard freestyle.  The Ellwood native is the daughter of Patti and Jay Petrak. The trials are being split into a Wave I and a Wave II trials this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to USA Swimming. Riverside Class of 2021 Set to Graduate Friday

Riverside High School Class of 2021 is set to graduate 110 seniors. Graduation will be Friday, June 4th at 6:00 p.m. at the Riverside football field. Rain date is Saturday, June 5th at noon. Wolverines Fall In WPIAL Championship; Move On To PIAA

Top seeded Mt. Pleasant ripped ten doubles in its convincing 15-0 victory over Ellwood City in the Class-3A WPIAL Softball Championship Game on Wednesday at Cal U. The 11-seeded Wolverines were seeking a fourth WPIAL title but fell one game short in defeat after its victories over No. 6 Deer Lakes, No. 3 Waynesburg and No. 7 Southmoreland to gain entry in the championship game. DATE CHANGE: Lincoln High School Seniors Set To Celebrate 2021 Commencement

UPDATES: June 3rd, 2:21 p.m. – According to the Lincoln High School guidance offices, the commencement ceremony schedule for Thursday evening has been cancelled & postponed until Monday, June 7, 2021. The Lincoln High School graduating Class of 2021 will receive their diplomas Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.  The commencement will take place at Helling Stadium in Ewing Park. Lincoln High School will be graduating 128 students this year. Among the 128 students, 17 will be graduating with highest honors. Riverside To Start Summer Meal Program

The Riverside cafeteria staff will begin the summer meal program the week of June 14, 2021. Riverside will offer a 5-day package for pick-up every Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. The pick-up location is expected to be at the Middle School. However, the location may change to the elementary school due to construction projects throughout the district. Food service staff will pack bags on Mondays and distribute on Tuesdays. The package will consist of 5 lunch meals, 5 breakfast meals, and a 1/2 gallon of white milk. The summer meal service is free for all district children age 18 and under….

POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT: New Castle Police are investigating theft incident on North Western Drive in Wayne Township. A 72-year-old Ellwood City man sent an unidentified individual money online over a period of 11-12 months. According to the report, the currency sent to the suspect via Bitcoin is valued at $300,000.00. Police are continuing to investigate. The Beaver Patrol Unit responded to an incident in Darlington Boro. A woman, age 74 was deceived by a male phone caller and gave him her personal bank account information. $2,000.00 was stolen from the woman’s account. Riverside Gearing Up For PIAA Track Championship

Coming off of a “4-PEAT” in the WPIAL Championship and competing this past week at Slippery Rock University, a select few Riverside athletes are getting ready for the State Championship beginning this Friday May 28th.
