Mr. Mark H. Jamison Jr., 92, of Ellwood City passed away on Friday, December 10th, 2021 at the UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Twp.. Mr. Jamison was born in Ellwood City to the late Mark H. and Carmel (Lamenza) Jamison Sr. on April 13, 1929. Mark is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1947. In his youth he worked as a paper boy and following high school he was employed by the U.S. Steel Tube Mill in Ellwood City. Mayor Court Speaks With Ellwood City Girl Scouts

Mayor Anthony J. Court spoke to the Girl Scouts of Ellwood City, PA on December 8, 2021. Mayor Court spoke on the history of Ellwood City and his duties as Mayor of the city. The children followed with a question and answer period to the mayor. At the conclusion of the evening Mayor Court presented all of the girl scouts with water bottles from the Ellwood City Police Department. “It was very enjoyable and a lot of fun for all,” said Mayor Court in a statement. Linda (Bernatz) Gottlund, 75

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Linda, who was a devoted mother and BFF. She left us while sleeping peacefully at The Grove in Harmony. She had just celebrated her 75th birthday and had decided that she could not take another Western Pennsylvania winter. Born to the late Richard and Elnora, Linda was the older sister of Bonita (Bonnie) Montalto, who survives. She was happily married for 22 years to Robert Bernatz, who passed away in 1994. Ellwood City Basketball Teams Look To Build On Buzz; Boys Vie For WPIAL Repeat

A buzz was injected into the Ellwood City basketball program last year as the boys team rode the wave of a cinderella WPIAL Playoff run and captured the school’s first ever WPIAL Basketball Championship in March. Add to that a new girls head coach. PHOTOS: 2021 Wampum Christmas Parade

Wampum held its 49th Annual Christmas Parade on Saturday. Over 50 units, including cars, floats, bands and marching groups participated in the parade. which is billed as the biggest Christmas parade in Lawrence County. This year the parade was dedicated to Frank Yoho of Wayne Township, who had portrayed Santa Claus in the parade for 28 years. Yoho passed away on June 26 at the age of 81 and is greatly missed by the Wampum community.  In addition to portraying Santa, Frank lent his considerable handyman skills to the Wampum Christmas Parade Committee on projects including creating the display which…

Ellwood City held its annual Light Up Night in downtown Ellwood City on Friday with the official lighting of the Christmas tree and ensuing fireworks display. After a year hiatus, the event returned with various activities for families and vendors set up on Lawrence Avenue. A horse-drawn sleigh, a local singer, a DJ and a brass quintet playing Christmas carols all welcomed visitors for Ellwood City and the surrounding communities who descended on Lawrence Avenue for the evening.
