Tomak Scores 5 Goals, Leads Wilmington Hockey To Victory

The Wilmington Co-op Hockey team upset a first place Carrick hockey team by a score of 9-8 Monday behind an impressive five goal game by Ellwood City senior Drake Tomak. The visiting Greyhounds jumped out to a 4-1 first period and 9-4 advantage after two periods before holding off Carrick for the victory. Tomak lit the lamp twice in the first period with assists from Logan Popovich (Wilmington) and Davis Phanco (Wilmington). Donald W. Buzard, Sr., 78

After a two-year battle with lung cancer, Mr. Don W. Buzard Sr., 78 of Ellwood City passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, in the Good Samaritan Hospice in Beaver on December 20, 2021. Born May 26, 1943 to Wade & Viette Buzard, Don spent his life in Ellwood, save for a four-year tour with the US Navy, which came after graduating from Lincoln High School in 1961. Antuono Hits 1,000 Career Points, Wolverines Lose At Buzzer

Steve Antuono, Jr. hit a career scoring milestone Monday night in front of a home crowd, netting his 1,000th career point at the free throw line in the third quarter of the Wolverines non-section contest versus Union Area. However, Ellwood City was felled by a buzzer beating shot, one so close the referees converged before awarding the points to the visiting Scotties who escaped with a 59-58 victory over the Wolverines. Riverside School District Issues COVID-19 Isolation Procedure Update

According to information made available by superintendent Bret Trotta and information made available on the school district website, Riverside Beaver County School District has issued a COVID-19 Isolation Procedure Update. In a statement made available by Trotta, he advises the district held a school board meeting to revisit our Health and Safety Plan on Friday. Mask will remain optional; however, we highly recommend using face-coverings. TERRORISTIC THREATS: On December 1st, 2021, the New Castle Patrol Unit was dispatched to Mohawk School Road in North Beaver Township. Te incident occurred as the victim and the suspect were engaging in communication via social media SnapChat.
