Ellwood City Boys Tennis Knocks Off Rival Riverside

The Ellwood City Boys Tennis team knocked off its rival Riverside Monday afternoon in Ewing Park. The Wolverines defeated the visiting Panthers 4-1 to improve its record to 2-0 on the young campaign. Grady Smith (6-0, 6-1) and Anthony DiBuono (6-1, 6-0) collected victories in singles matches while the pairings of Daniel Rogers & Ryan Odom (6-4, 6-4) and Hunter Rock & Ayden Frisk (6-4, 6-1) swept doubles. Franklin Township 2022 Clean-Up Day Announced

Clean up your yard, clean up your home, and clean up your garage! Franklin Township residents are invited to participate in a township clean-up day planned for Saturday, May 7, 2021. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and last until 2:00 p.m. for township residents. Residents can drop off trash at the Franklin Township Building located on Route 288 in Fombell. This cleanup event is for township residents only, with two (2) passes allowed per household. A pass is good for one (1) load. Riverside Claims PIAA State Relay Championships; Roth Sets State Record

Led by two relay state titles and a dominating individual performance by Joseph Roth, Riverside finished second overall in the Class-2A PIAA Swimming Championships at Bucknell University. On Friday, the Panther relay team collected a state title in the 200-yard freestyle relay.  The team, consisting of Ryan Turner, Sam Kline, and brothers Joseph and Alexander Roth, finished with a time of 1:25.86 with individual splits of 21.24 (J. Roth) 21.39 (Kline) 22.07 (Turner) 21.16 (A. Roth). POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: On March 15, at approximately 5:05 p.m., PA State Police were dispatched to a residence on Park Drive, Wampum Borough, Lawrence County to investigate a report of criminal mischief. According to the report, an unknown actor(s) damaged a door hinge on a tool shed at the Wampum Park. Panthers Set to Compete At PIAA Swimming Championships

The 2022 PIAA Swimming Championships are slated to begin this week at Kinney Natatorium located on the campus of Bucknell University. For the Riverside Panthers, winners of WPIAL Gold in the 200 and 400-yard Freestyle relay events among others earlier this month, they will look to showcase its talent at the championships that begin with Class 2A prelims Friday. Lester J. Miller, 83

TITUSVILLE, FL – Lester J Miller, 83, of Titusville, Florida, passed away on March 6, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with many health issues. He was born in Ellwood City on January 26, 1939, to the late Earl and Georgia (Himes) Miller. His mother passed when he was a young boy and he was raised by his father and his loving aunt/stepmother, the late Zella (Himes) Miller. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Carol Lee (Laurain) Miller. They were married on March 26, 1960 and would have celebrated their 62nd anniversary this month. Their three children…

Wampum American Legion Offering Its All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast

The Wampum American Legion is starting it’s all-you-can-eat Breakfast event again on Saturday, March 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The event is scheduled to take place at the Legion club located at 436 Beaver Street, Wampum, PA 16157.
