Lee Bucci, Sr., 90

Lee Bucci, Sr., 90, from Homosassa, Florida passed away on January 17, 2022 from heart complications at Bayfront Health Hospital in Crystal River, Florida after a short two-day stay. He was a former employee of the formal George K. Garrett Line of Ellwood City, PA. He had various other jobs in his younger years. He loved fishing, hunting, working in his garden, raising his chickens, pigeons, and rabbits. Ellwood City Area Historical Society Offering Scholarship Opportunities

The annual Ellwood City Area Historical Society Scholarship submission is quickly approaching. The deadline is Thursday April 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. The Ellwood City Area Historical Society will award two $1,500.00 scholarships to two (2) graduating seniors. Graduating seniors from Lincoln High School and Riverside High School who have been accepted to attend a college, Trade School or Performing Arts are eligible. Riverside Beaver Co School District Set To Begin 2022-23 Scheduling

Monday marks the beginning of the scheduling process for the 2022-23 school year at Riverside High School. According to a post on the district website, Monday, January 24 through February 4 starts scheduling presentations for grades 8-11 with a move up day scheduled in June. PA State Police Investigating A Shooting At Clearview Mall Leaving 3 Injured

The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop D, Butler, are investigating a shooting that occurred at the Clearview Mall, Center Township, Butler County on Wednesday, January 18th, 2022. Over 20-gun shots were fired in the mall parking lot and multiple persons were struck with bullets and taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for their injuries. Ellwood City Wrestling Takes 3rd Place In Section Duals

The Ellwood City Wrestling team posted a 3rd place finish at the WPIAL AA Section 2-A Duals qualifying tournament at Laurel High School Tuesday evening. The team defeated Ambridge and Central Valley but were defeated by Freedom Area and the host Laurel Spartans. The top two teams qualify out of the section for playoffs. The Wilmington hockey team defeated Burrell 8-1 at Hess Ice Rink on Tuesday extending their team point streak to eight straight game. The Hounds scored the only goal in the first period when Davis Phanco (Wilmington) lit the lamp. The goal was assisted by Andrew Cartwright (Union) and Chance Miller (Wilmington). Ellwood City big man Joseph Roth showed his prowess on both ends of the court Tuesday night, collecting 35 points and hauling in 20 rebounds to lead the Wolverines to a 49-35 victory over section foe Laurel. Portersville Mother Among First Students Accepted In A New BC3 Program

A 44-year-old native of the Philippines who in 2007 suspended her pursuit of higher education in health care at Butler County Community College following the birth of her special-needs daughter is among the first students accepted in a BC3 practical nursing program that debuted Tuesday. Yeng Carle, of Portersville, is the most senior of 10 students in BC3’s latest selective-admissions health care program. The practical nursing program at BC3 is the only one in Butler County and is a result of a partnership forged in June 2020 with Concordia Lutheran Ministries, a Cabot health care provider.
