POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

DRUG POSSESSION:
Deven Brown, 23, of Ellwood City, is charged with Drug Possession after a sobriety checkpoint stop on April 29 on Lawrence Avenue. According to the report, at approximately 10:18 p.m. and while PA State Police were performing the check, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was procured from Brown who had driven into the checkpoint in a 2022 Toyota Tacoma.

DRUG POSSESSION:
Katrina Brewer, 29, of Beaver Falls, is charged with Drug Possession after a sobriety checkpoint stop on April 29 on Lawrence Avenue. According to the report, and at approximately 10:51 p.m. PA State Police were conducting a stationery checkpoint when a 201 Buick Century with Ohio registration operated by Brewer entered the checkpoint. Brewer showed signs of impairment and was determined to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Brewer was arrested on scene for driving under the influence and transported to a nearby hospital for chemical testing. Charges are pending blood results.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT:
On April 23 at approximately 2:14 a.m., PA State Police responded to a report of a disorderly conduct at a residence on Chewton Wurtemburg Road in Wayne Township. According to the investigation, an unknown individual(s), in an unknown vehicle, possibly an older pickup truck with a loud exhaust, drove through the area and fired several 9 mm rounds from an unknown firearm into a woodland area near residences. If anyone has any information or video concerning this incident, please contact PA State Police and reference incident number PA22-505326. The investigation continues.



SUICIDE ATTEMPT:
On April 21, at approximately 11:24 p.m., PA State Police responded to Spring Avenue Ext in Wayne Township for a report of a suicidal female who had taken off in a vehicle in an unknown direction. The female was later located, and it was discovered she had allegedly recently taken several sleeping pills. The female was then transported to a nearby hospital for medical and mental evaluation.

TERRORISTIC THREATS:
Holly Poloka, 32, of Wampum, is charged with Terroristic Threats after an incident on May 8th at a residence on Morgan Lane in Wayne Township. According to the police report, two victims, a 35-year-old male and 55-year-old female, arrived at the residence to repo a 2013 Ram that was in default. Poloka then came outside with a Springfield 9mm Pistol and threaten the victims. Upon PA State Police arriving, Poloka was taken into custody without incident. The firearm was retrieved and entered into evidence. Charges pending.

VEHICLE ACCIDENT:
PA State Police investigated a one vehicle crash that occurred on May 9th at approximately 6:26 a.m. on River Road in Wayne Township. According to the report, a 2017 Chevy Cruze was traveling south on River Road, south of Tony Ditko Road, when it veered off the roadway to the right, struck a utiltiy pole, brushed a tree, went over the embankment and came to a final rest off the roadway facing south. The operator, Lindsay Warner, 31, of Ellwood City, stated she was not injured and refused medical treatment. Wampum Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

DUI:
Darcy Young, 43, of Ellwood City, is charged with DUI after an incident on April 24th. According to a report, at approximately 1:29 a.m., PA State Police initiated a traffic stop at Crescent Avenue near 7th Street for a 2012 Chevy Traverse failing to come to a complete stop. Upon further investigation, it was determined Young displayed indicators of impairment and subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

DUI:
Bronson Lane, 32, of Ellwood City, is charged with DUI after an incident on April 20th. According to a report, PA State Police contacted Lane walking along private property while his 2000 Dodge pickup truck with engine ignited was stopped upon the shoulder of Portersville Road near Mile Hill Road without its emergency hazard lights activated. Upon further investigation, it was determined Lane had operated the vehicle with a suspended license, displayed indicators of impairment, and subsequently was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

FRAUD:
The City of Beaver Falls Police Department would like to make the public aware of a recent scam involving unknown actor(s) that have been “spoofing” a police department phone number. The caller is claiming to be an “Officer” and having Official Documents for the person being called. They then request the victim to return their phone call on a separate “secure” phone number. All persons are advised to not return a phone call to a number supplied to them, but are encouraged to contact the Beaver County 911 Center (724-775-0880) and request an officer call them back if you have any suspicions. Also, never supply any personal information to persons over the phone unless you are sure who you are speaking with. Please report any of these fraudulent calls to the City of Beaver Falls Police Department at 724-846-7000.

HOMICIDE:
On May 15, 2022, at approximately 11:20 pm, a New Castle City Police Officer was patrolling on the East side of New Castle when the officer heard five gunshots in the area. The Officer checked the area and did locate a male standing on the porch of 819 Bonzo Street, the male did put his hands in the air immediately when he viewed the officer and the male stated that he shot someone and that he dropped the firearm on the porch. The 21-year-old male was immediately detained at that time. The officer then did view a male later identified as Miles ROBERSON (20 years old) lying on the sidewalk near the porch of the residence with gunshot wounds to his body. The officer did attempt emergency first aid on ROBERSON. The officer subsequently determined that ROBERSON had succumbed to his wounds. This is still an active investigation by the NCPD to determine the exact circumstances of this incident. The NCPD is working with the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office and will release more information when it becomes available.
