POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, PROPERTY DAMAGE:
According to a criminal complaint, on September 26 Ellwood City Police responded to a domestic incident at a residence on Perry Street. Upon arrival police made contact with Tyler Clingensmith, 26, of Ellwood City and a female outside the residence. It was found that Clingensmith was highly intoxicated and had taken the female’s Jeep off-roading and possibly totaled it. Police observed the Jeep covered in mud with damage underneath and a pip hanging. Clingensmith stated he took the Jeep all through Stiefel Park and on and off the trails at the park.  Police placed Clingensmith in the back of a patrol car and transported him to Stiefel Park to direct the police where he all drove. Police observed tire ruts near the swing set, damage to a wire cable fence, damage to a speed limit sign. Police later observed damage to a grass hill at 501 Crescent Avenue at Lincoln High School and all around the common areas. Clingensmith later admitted to the damage as well. According to the report, Clingensmith caused a total damage to both properties in the amount of $1,449.95. Clingensmith was charged with Criminal Mischief, Driving With Suspended License, and Trespassing.

THEFT:
An unknown actor removed loose change and a Samsung cellular phone from an unlocked 2016 Chevy Impala on Kay Street, Wampum Borough on or around October 17 at 12:57 p.m. According to the police report, the loose change was valued at $5.00 and the phone was valued at $150.00. THEFT:
An unknown actor removed $5.00 worth of loose change from a 2014 Chevy Equinox while it was parked on Beaver Street in Wampum Borough on or around October 16 at 9:31 a.m. No damage was reported to the vehicle as it was unlocked. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF:
According to a police report, on October 15th at approximately 11:30 p.m., a 24-year-old New Castle man reported damage to the rear window of a 2000 Chevy Venture minivan by an unknown actor. The incident occurred on Old Enon Unity Road in Little Beaver Township, Lawrence County. The cost estimate of the damaged rear window was $400.00. ASSAULT:
On October 17th at approximately 2:30 a.m., PA State Police were dispatched to a reported burglary in progress on West State Street, Mahoning Township, Lawrence County. During the investigation, signs of recent physical abuse were observed on the 26-year-old female victim. During questioning, it was found that the male party struck her numerous times in the face causing bleeding and bruising around the face and ears. The male actor, a 27-year-old male from Ellwood City, was placed into custody and secured in Lawrence County Jail.

HARASSMENT:
On October 15th at approximately 1:00 a.m., PA State police were dispatched to a reported disturbance on Henry Street, Wayne Township. During the investigation, it was shown that a 48-year-old female victim was struck with an open hand slap to the top of her head, during a physical altercation with a male party. A non-traffic citation was filed against the male party, a 53-year-old Ellwood City man.

BURGLARY:
Between the hours of 12:30 p.m. on October 16 and 12:28 a.m. on October 17th a burglary took place on West State Street in Mahoning Township, Lawrence County. According to the report, an unknown actor broke into the residential address and stole items from the residence. The victims are listed as a 26-year-old Edinburg female and a 27-year-old Ellwood City male.

FRAUD:
State police are investigating a report of fraudulent activity in Wayne Township, Lawrence County. According to the report, between September 30 and October 5, a 43-year-old male victim first began receiving packages in the mail that he never ordered. Later, he was contacted by the financial institution of his credit card and informed there were several fraudulent charges associated with his account that were detected. PA State Police would like to remind everyone to use sound judgment when divulging personal or financial information and actively monitor your credit report to look for inconsistencies or suspicious activity.
