Panthers Remain Unbeaten, Rout Riverview 40-6

The Riverside Panthers continued their impressive offensive start to their regular season with a 40-6 victory over Riverview Friday night at Riverside Memorial Stadium.

With the victory, Riverside improved to 3-0 on its regular season campaign.

The offense was powered by quarterback Aiden Gaydosz who went to the air (15-24 passing) to the tune of 198 yards and two touchdowns.

Gaydosz found Chase Boehm on a 37-yard strike in the first quarter to open up the scoring and later tossed a touchdown strike to Cole Jackson in the third frame.

Jackson led all recievers with six catches and 118 yards for Riverside.

On the ground, running back Alex Spankle scampered in from 19 yards out to push the Panthers advantage to 23-6 in the second quarter. Spankle finished with 102 yards rushing in the contest.

After the Gaydosz-Jackson scoring strike, Montgomery Michael found the endzone on a 34-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring.

The Panthers defense continued to be stout, allowing only 59 yards of offense by the opposing Raiders, and earned a defensive touchdown in the opening quarter Friday as Boehm scooped and scored on a 47-yard fumble recovery return.

Gaydosz hauled in two interceptions defensively to showcase an all-around effort for the 6’1″ junior.

Riverside yielded the seasons first points in the second quarter Friday after consecutive shutouts against Ellwood City and South Side.

The Panthers (3-0 Overall) will next enter section play and travel to face Western Beaver on Friday, September 18th.

RELATED: Ellwood City traveled to Avonworth on Friday night and came away on the short end of a 55-6 defeat. Caleb DeSanzo scored on a 1-yard touchdown rush in the second quarter for the Wolverines. Ellwood City (0-3 Overall) continue non-section play when they host Blackhawk on Friday, September 18th for a homecoming contest.
