PA State Police Investigating A Shooting At Clearview Mall Leaving 3 Injured

The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop D, Butler, are investigating a shooting that occurred at the Clearview Mall, Center Township, Butler County on Wednesday, January 18th, 2022. Over 20-gun shots were fired in the mall parking lot and multiple persons were struck with bullets and taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for their injuries. The persons injured in this altercation were identified as Damian BLYSTONE (W/N M 19 YOA), Ryan EHRMAN (W/N M, 21 YOA) and a 17-year-old B/N M. Ellwood City Wrestling Takes 3rd Place In Section Duals

The Ellwood City Wrestling team posted a 3rd place finish at the WPIAL AA Section 2-A Duals qualifying tournament at Laurel High School Tuesday evening. The team defeated Ambridge and Central Valley but were defeated by Freedom Area and the host Laurel Spartans. The top two teams qualify out of the section for playoffs. Ellwood City wrestlers finished as follows: Derek Allen (106 lbs) 4-0 on the night with a pin over Reid Ketzel from Laurel. Wilmington Hockey Extends Point Streak, Routs Burrell 8-1

The Wilmington hockey team defeated Burrell 8-1 at Hess Ice Rink on Tuesday extending their team point streak to eight straight game. The Hounds scored the only goal in the first period when Davis Phanco (Wilmington) lit the lamp. The goal was assisted by Andrew Cartwright (Union) and Chance Miller (Wilmington). Wilmington had a 3-1 advantage after two periods with two scores from Drake Tomak (Ellwood City). Ellwood City big man Joseph Roth showed his prowess on both ends of the court Tuesday night, collecting 35 points and hauling in 20 rebounds to lead the Wolverines to a 49-35 victory over section foe Laurel. After an uneventful first quarter, Roth heated up and scored 11 points in the second quarter that saw the host Wolverines pull away for a 19-9 halftime advantage. Portersville Mother Among First Students Accepted In A New BC3 Program

A 44-year-old native of the Philippines who in 2007 suspended her pursuit of higher education in health care at Butler County Community College following the birth of her special-needs daughter is among the first students accepted in a BC3 practical nursing program that debuted Tuesday. Yeng Carle, of Portersville, is the most senior of 10 students in BC3’s latest selective-admissions health care program. The practical nursing program at BC3 is the only one in Butler County and is a result of a partnership forged in June 2020 with Concordia Lutheran Ministries, a Cabot health care provider. Kindergarten Enrollment Upcoming At Riverside School District

Attention is called to parents of preschool students who live within the Riverside Beaver County School District. Kindergarten Enrollment for the 2022-2023 School Year is set to begin Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Children who will be 5 years old before September 1, 2022 and are residents of the Riverside Beaver County School District are eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2022–2023 school year. PennDOT Issues Updates to Planned Vehicle Restrictions in Advance of Winter Weather

Harrisburg, PA – In anticipation of winter weather beginning later today, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) are adjusting planned vehicle restrictions that were announced yesterday. Highlighted information indicates a change from the January 14 announcement. Additional speed and vehicle restrictions on these and other interstates could be added depending on changing conditions. Restrictions will be communicated via variable message boards, the 511PA traveler information website and smartphone apps. Motorists can also sign up for personalized alerts on the website. Ellwood City Wrestling MAC Tournament Results

The Ed Driscoll MAC Wrestling Tournament is one of the biggest wrestling tournaments that features some of the best talent from all around the country. The 24 team tournament saw Quaker Valley crowned as top overall team win with 223 points, beating out other powerhouse teams such as West Allegheny, Laurel, Montour, and Central Valley.  Ellwood City finished 11th overall with 39.0 points. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: New Castle Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on January 8th on West Lawrence Avenue in Wayne Township. A 2019 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling too fast downhill and swerved to miss an animal and then left the north side of the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck the left front end of a parked and unoccupied 2004 Ford F250. The Chevrolet came to a final rest on the north berm of West Lawrence Avenue.
