Ellwood City Girls Volleyball Victorious On Senior Night, Clinch Playoff Berth

The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team defeated Mohawk in straight sets (3-0) Tuesday evening on their senior night at Lincoln High School gymnasium. The girls ousted the visiting Warriors 25-13, 25-6, and 25-12 to earn their ninth victory of the regular season. The girls are now 9-6 overall, 8-5 in section play and have clinched a playoff berth in the WPIAL Class-2A Playoffs.  The team will wrap up its regular season play on Thursday when they visit Beaver Falls (2-10 overall) for a road match. “Our team is young but the girls have matured physically, mentally, and emotionally throughout the…

Located on the outskirts of New Castle lies one of the most popular western Pennsylvania ghost hunting locations- Hill View Manor. The manor is an 85,000 square foot building that opened in the 1920’s as a “poor farm” and halfway house but was later turned into a care facility in the 1970’s. Reisinger Leads BC3 To Record 6th Consecutive Conference Title

Butler, PA – Breanna Reisinger had 14 kills, Aslyn Pry 11 and Abby Granato 7 as the ninth-ranked Butler County Community College volleyball team won a Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference-record sixth conference championship in a row Saturday. Ellwood City Boys Claim Tri-County Cross Country Championship

The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country Team has claimed the 2021 Tri-County Championship. The Wolverines runners collected its victory in wet, soggy conditions at Shenango High School, finishing (39) and besting Shenango (64), Neshannock (81), Mohawk (88), Laurel (117),  and Riverside (129). “I am very happy with the teams performance,” said head coach Mark Hall. “I do believe they all got personal best times for the year.” The boys finished unbeaten and claimed the WPIAL Section 1-1A title, and now have won back-to-back Tri-County Championships. PHOTOS: Panthers Earn Homecoming Victory Over Wolverines

Sam Hughes scampered for two touchdowns to lead the Riverside Panthers to their first victory of the season, a 19-0 victory over rival Ellwood City on Friday night during Homecoming at Riverside’s Memorial Stadium. Madeline Dimeo was named Riverside Homecoming Queen during halftime. Hughes, who finished with 90 yards rushing, scored from 21 years and 19 yards while Brady Barton found the endzone on a 45 yard touchdown for the Panthers (1-4, 1-6 overall). POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

NOISE DISTURBANCE: Amber Jewel Perez, 36, of Ellwood City, is charged with aggravated harassment, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and harassment earlier this month. According to a criminal complaint, officers were called to the neighborhood of Loop Street where they heard loud music coming from a residence. Perez and another woman were in a hot tub on the porch playing loud music. The police instructed them to turn down the music and Perez complied. At 5:35 a.m., the police were sent back to the address for another disturbance. A caller reported that the music was getting louder. Perez emerged…

REMINDER: Halloween Parade Set For October 23

The annual Ellwood City Halloween Parade will take place on Saturday, October 23rd in downtown Ellwood City. The parade returns after not being held last year due to COVID-19 concerns. “The community is ready to attend events in the town and be back to a normal,” says Ellwood City Parade Committee member Josh D’Amico. “Everyone we have talked to is very excited we are having the parade this year.” According to D’Amico the parade already has nine confirmed floats, two dance studios, five classic cars, Lincoln High School and Riverside Marching Band, and the Ellwood City Baseball team among many…

Riverside Lions Club Continues Their Community Outreach With A Variety of Programs

The Riverside Lions Club is continuing their community outreach through a variety of programs. Once again, the club had the opportunity of being able to distribute thousands of school supplies to six different schools in the area. The supplies were furnished through Project Homefront. “This is the third year we’ve been able to help the schools in our area,” says Lions Club spokesman, Chip Campbell. “We received two separate donations this year, giving us the opportunity to expand our reach.” The club also collected three times from our Hygiene Helpers boxes located at the Franklin Township Giant Eagle and Dollar…
