Several Area Police Departments Participating In National Drug Take Back Day

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That’s dangerous and often tragic.

The drug overdose epidemic in the United States is a clear and present public health, public safety, and national security threat. DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.

The Ellwood City and Franklin Township are among those area police departments participating in the drug take back program on Saturday, April 30 that is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. Residents may use the opportunity to turn in unused or expired medication for safe disposal.
