McQuistion Mows Down Mohawk; EC Baseball Defeated in Extras Following Rain Postponement

Amber McQuistion mowed down the Mohawk Warriors to the tune of a five inning no-hit performance on Wednesday.

As a result, the Ellwood City junior high softball team easily defeated the visiting Warriors 10-0.

McQuistion struck out 11 batters without issuing a walk in her steller all around performance. She also finished 2-3 at the plate with one run and one RBI on the afternoon.

Ellwood City belted out 11 hits offensively with Kennedy Brown (2 R, 1 SB) and Ava Dausman (1 2B, 2 R) joining McQuistion with two hit efforts.

Varsity Baseball Defeated In Extras Following Rain Postponement

Thunderstorms in the forecast force a postponement of Tuesday afternoon’s section tilt between the Wolverines and Warriors at Sanders Field in Ewing Park. The game was halted at a pivitol junction in the fourth inning with Mohawk threatening.

Upon resuming play Wednesday, Mohawk knotted the game at two in the fifth inning and the game then stretched into extra innings.

The visiting Warriors were able to push across winning runs in the ensuing extra innings to claim a 5-2 victory in 9 innings over Ellwood City.

Cooper Vance collected a two-run double in the top of the ninth, advanced to third on the throw to the plate, and scored on the rundown.
