PHOTOS: Ellwood City Baseball Senior Night, Game Postponed Due To Rain

Ominous skies surrounding Sanders Field Tuesday afternoon when the Ellwood City Wolverines were set to host Mohawk for the second game of their home-and-home series with the Warriors.

The afternoon started with senior recognition for the five Wolverines seniors prior to first pitch, but the game was not able to be completed.

The game was halted at a pivital junction due to rain and will resume Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. with Ellwood City leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning. The visiting Warriors are threatening with the bases loaded with two outs.

The game was scoreless after two-and-a-half innings before sophomore Joseph Roth blasted a two-out, two-run single to help give the Wolverines a 2-0 lead after three frames.  On the mound, the big man also had allowed just one hit through three innings before the postponement.

Ellwood City defeated the Warriors 7-1 on Monday at Mohawk.

Rosenberger Tosses No-Hitter For The Lady Panthers

Riverside defeated New Brighton 16-0 in four innings on Tuesday with Sam Rosenberger tossing four perfect innings. She struck out seven Lions without issuing a walk. Riverside was powered by 16 hits with first basement Sydney Hale swatting a homerun as part of her 3-3 performance at the plate (1 HR, 1 2B, 3 RBIs). Mia Williams collected a double en route to her five RBI performance for the Panthers. Danny Rosenberger and Braley Zappie each joined Hale with three hits on the afternoon.  Riverside (8-4 overall) next hosts Neshannock on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
