The Wolverines baseball team improved to an impressive 10-1 record with a 7-0 shutout victory over Quaker Valley Friday. Aaron Lake twirled a complete game one-hitter, striking out 14 Quakers while only issuing two walks. Offensively, Jordan Keller swatted a pair of doubles and knocked in three runs for Ellwood City who exploded for five runs in the six inning. Geoffery Bokor also collected two hits in the victory. Panthers Walk-Off Mohawk; Wolverines Sweep Sto-Rox

Dylan Meyer singled in the bottom of the eight inning at Riverside earned a 5-4 extra-inning walk-off victory Wednesday afternoon over Mohawk. Logan Young collected three hits in four at bats to lead the offensive charge. Young singled in the seventh inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the eighth inning. Aaron Lake drove in four runs on two hits to lead Ellwood City (5-0 Overall) past Riverside 11-0 in six innings on Monday afternoon at Sanders Field. Lake doubled in the first inning, scoring two runs and smacked a 2-run home run to left field in the sixth inning. Aaron Lake struck out 14 batters and allowed only one hit across six scoreless innings as Ellwood City defeated Central Valley 3-0 on Tuesday to improve to 3-0 on the young regular season. Lake did not walk a batter and added an RBI single offensively for the Wolverines. Ellwood City collected three runs in the bottom of the first inning to spark the offense. Ellwood City took care of business in their home opener on Friday afternoon, coming out on top against the Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers by a score of 5-1. Nate Kennedy struck out 10 batters over 5.1 innings to earn the victory. Kennedy allowed only three hits and one run. Cameron Mills made a splash while hitting and pitching. Ten Ellwood City Wolverines collected hits Monday afternoon, and 14 different players reached based as Ellwood City routed visiting Sto-Rox 23-1 at Sanders Field in Ewing Park. Ellwood City Falls Short In 73rd Little League Tournament; Zito Earns Homerun Derby Crown

After collecting an opening round win on Tuesday in the 73rd Annual Little League Tournament, Ellwood City squad could not advance any further, falling twice on Saturday, first to Laurel and again to Neshannock, each by a 5-2 count that eliminated the tournament host. Neshannock earned the tournament championship with two victories over Laurel on Sunday. Ellwood City’s Joey Zito won the the 23rd Ellwood City Little League Tournament Home Run Derby at Freidhoff Field. Zito launched eight home runs to defeat 29 other contestants from the tournament.
