Panthers Walk-Off Mohawk; Wolverines Sweep Sto-Rox

Dylan Meyer singled in the bottom of the eight inning at Riverside earned a 5-4 extra-inning walk-off victory Wednesday afternoon over Mohawk.

Logan Young collected three hits in four at bats to lead the offensive charge. Young singled in the seventh inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the eighth inning.

Mohawk Area was the first to get on the board in the fourth when Kamren O’Lare singled, scoring two runs. The visiting Warriors added runs in the fifth and seventh to take a 4-0 advantage into the bottom of the seventh.

Riverside tied the game up in the bottom of the frame thanks to three singles. The Panthers tied the game on a single by Chase Boehm.

Jackson Barber earned the win for Riverside. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out two and walking none. Bobby Fadden took the loss for Mohawk Area. The pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out one and walking none.

Matt Santillo led things off on the hill for Riverside. The left-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and four runs (zero earned) over six innings, striking out 12 and walking two. Laiken Quear threw one inning of shutout ball for the Panthers in relief. The right-handed pitcher allowed one hit, striking out none and walking none.

Riverside tallied 11 hits in the game. Jackson Barber (2-5, 1 2B), Chase Boehm (2-4, 1 RBI), and Young (3-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) each collected multiple hits for the Panthers.

The Panthers (3-4 Overall) will travel to Mohawk Area on Thursday afternoon to wrap up the home-and-home series.

WOLVERINES ROUT STO-ROX, COMPLETE SWEEP

Ellwood City made quick work of Sto-Rox again on Wednesday afternoon, earning an 18-1 mercy-rule victory and along with the mercy rule victory Tuesday, the Wolverines completed the two game sweep by a 36-1 run margin.

Aaron Lake powered a home run and knocked in three runs while Joseph Nardone, Craig Patterson, and Jordan Keller each doubled Wednesday in the victory.

Cameron Mills tossed three innings of no-hit ball on Tuesday in the victory and Ellwood City surrendered only one hit and an unearned run on Wednesday.

The Wolverines (7-1 Overall) will next travel to Peters Township on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. evening contest at Joe Maize Field.

SOFTBALL

The Lady Wolverines pounded out 12 hits as part of a 15-0 rout of Quaker Valley on Wednesday.

Ellwood City jumped out early with eight runs in the opening inning en route to the four inning mercy-rule victory.

Kiley LeViere collected three hits including a double for Ellwood City.  Casey Folino, Kilee Palombi, and C Kreitzer each finished with two hits.  Palombi, Kreitzer, and G Geniviva each posted a team-high two RBIs in the victory.

Amber McQuistion twirled a one-hitter on mound for the Wolverines, striking out 12 while only issuing one walk over four innings.
