Last Thursday, third and fourth grade students in Perry Lower Intermediate School participated in the school’s Third Annual Careers on Wheels event. Due to construction at Perry School grounds, the event was held by the stadium at Ewing Park and hosted 21 different vehicles according to Ellwood City School Counselor, Christina Mendillo. VIDEO: Route 18 Reopens After Train Derailment In New Castle

Pittsburgh – PennDOT District 11 has announced a portion of Route 18 has reopened after a closure to traffic due to an overnight train derailment in the City of New Castle on Thursday, May 11th. Nine Norfolk Southern train cars derailed near its intersection with Route 18 between Mt. Jackson Road (Route 108) and Blanchard Street.  PennDOT personnel were on scene to assess the condition of the roadway once the rail cars are removed. 2023 Riverside Prom Courts Announced

Riverside Junior/Senior promenade will take place Friday, May 12, at the Riverside High School auditorium. Students will participate in the Grand March at 6 pm, starting in the gymnasium and proceeding to the auditorium, where the stage has been decorated in this year’s theme, A Night in Vegas. Promenade will conclude with the crowning of Prom Queen by Liz Frazer, this year’s Riverside Homecoming Queen. Six Ellwood City Wolverine seniors were recognized in advance of the Wolverines final home game of its season Tuesday afternoon. Ellwood City was defeated by Shenango 14-1. Isaiah Lutz led the offense with two hits, including a double. Senior Blake Foreman collected the only other hit offensively as Ellwood City was stymied and held to three hits on the afternoon. On Saturday, April 29th, athletes from the Riverside and Ellwood City boys and girls track and field teams competed in the 2023 Tri-County Track and Field Championships held at Shenango High School. The Ellwood City boys team placed second and the Riverside girls team placed fourth in their respective team standings.  The Riverside boys placed fifth while the Ellwood City girls placed sixth. The 2023 Lincoln High School Prom and Ellwood City Area After Prom was a big success! This year’s after prom was held the evening of Friday, May 5, 2023 at the Lincoln Jr. Sr High Big Gym. The 2023 Lincoln High School Prom Court has been announced! On Friday, the Ellwood City “A Night With The Stars” Prom will be held at the New Englander in New Castle, Pennsylvania. Ellwood City sophomore Will Nardone pitched six scoreless innings Wednesday afternoon as the Wolverines easily dismantled the visiting Central Valley Warriors 10-0 at Sanders Field. Nardone allowed only three singles on the afternoon. He stuck out five batters while issuing only three walks. Offensively, senior Chase Wilson reached base four times (3-3, 2 RBIs, 1 BB) and scored three runs for the Wolverines.
