PHOTOS: Perry Lower Intermediate School Hosts 3rd Annual Careers On Wheels

Last Thursday, third and fourth grade students in Perry Lower Intermediate School participated in the school’s Third Annual Careers on Wheels event.

Due to construction at Perry School grounds, the event was held by the stadium at Ewing Park and hosted 21 different vehicles according to Ellwood City School Counselor, Christina Mendillo.

Local businesses and companies that participated were the Ellwood City Police, Pennsylvania State Police, Medevac Ambulance, Wurtemburg Volunteer Fire Department, Boo’s Bug Stoppers, Penn Dot, The Ellwood City Borough, Lawrence County Corrections, Pitt Race, Bucci Advanced Plumbing, Hermes Transportation, Jackson Twp Rd Department, The Grounds Guys, Lindy’s Paving, Aiken Refuse, Pennsylvania State Troopers and more.

The participants allowed students to get up close and personal with the many vehicles they see out and about in our community.

Students were allowed to get inside of most of the vehicles and even try on the equipment and tools the guests brought with them.

“It is one of our favorite interactive experiences for our students,” said Mendillo.

The interactive event is an activity that meets the requirements of the Career Readiness portion of the Pennsylvania Future Ready Index.
