PHOTOS: Riverside Coed Swimming Senior Night

The Riverside Coed Swimming & Diving team hosted Central Valley on Wednesday Night as part of its senior night. The team will next turn its attention to the MAC Swimming Championships this weekend and the WPIAL Class AA Swimming Championships on February 26, 2026 at the University of Pittsburgh. The 2026 WPIAL/UPMC Sports Medicine Boys’ & Girls’ Swimming & Diving Championships begin with the diving championships on February 20-21 before concluding with the swimming championships on February 26-27.

PHOTOS: Wolverines Lose To Aliquippa On Senior Night

The Ellwood City boys basketball team was defeated 67-52 by Aliquippa at home Friday evening as part of its senior night. Kaleb Servick scored a game-high 19 points while Aaron Lake delivered a double-double (10 points, 15 reboounds) in defeat. Aliquippa (13-5 Overall, 9-2 Class 3A-1) raced out to an early 19-9 lead and 34-21 lead at halftime. Javarri Carter finished with a team-high 17 points for the Quips. PHOTOS: Lady Wolverines Fall To Quaker Valley On Senior Night

The Lady Wolverines fell 58-25 to Quaker Valley on Thursday night at Lincoln High School on its senior night. Sophomore Jadyn Allwine led all Ellwood City scorers with seven points. Teegan Patterson and senior Ava Lucarelli each scored six points in defeat. Mimi Thiero poured in a game-high 20 points for Quaker Valley (15-6 Overall, 12-2 Class 3A-1) who led 30-14 at halftime. The Ellwood City girls basketball teams completes its regular season with a record of 3-19 (2-12 Class 3A-1). Sophomore Cara Kreitzer finished the season with 290 points (13.2 average) and compiled two games during the regular season…

VIDEO: Ellwood City Featured On American Dream TV

Downtown Ellwood City was under the lens and captured on camera last month during the “Let There Be Lights” celebration along Lawrence Avenue. As part of the filming of a new segment for HGTV’s “The American Dream”, local realtor Katelyn Dominelli expresses her excitement, vision, and helps showcase the lifestyle, people, and heart of Ellwood City. Dominelli was contacted by show producers in November to help film and highlight the municipality.

PHOTOS: Wolverines Knock Off Riverside 52-40

The Ellwood City boys basketball team used a well rounded scoring attack to knock off rival Riverside 52-40 on Tuesday at Lincoln High School. Three Wolverines reached double digits led by junior guard Kaleb Servick who scored a game-high 17 points.  Tyler Smiley finished with 11 points (two 3-pointers, four assists, five steals) and Aaron Lake scored 10 points in the victory. Emma Meyers knocked home four 3-pointers and scored a game high 14 points to lead Riverside to a 46-17 victory over Ellwood City on Monday. Meyers was among eight Panthers that scored in the rivalry victory. Gabby McElwain and Addison Drake each pitched in two 3-pointers and eight points a piece for Riverside who posted nine 3-pointers as a team. The Panthers led 30-5 at halftime. PHOTOS: Riverside Edges Ellwood 49-47 In Overtime

Riverside used a 17-point effort by Cole Becker to knock off rival Ellwood City 49-47 in overtime Tuesday evening. The Panthers led 27-18 at halftime before the visiting Wolverines narrowed the gap with a third quarter surge and held Riverside to only three fourth quarter points to force overtime. Becker scored four of Riversides nine points in overtime including the decisive last two points. PHOTOS: Annual Ellwood City Halloween Parade

The annual Ellwood City Halloween Parade took place Saturday afternoon along Lawrence Avenue in downtown Ellwood City. Thousands flocked to the sidewalks to watch and collect candy tossed from the many floats, trucks, and participants in the parade. A year after modifying the borough trick or treat to follow the annual parade, the borough modified the date again this year, moving the 2025 trick or treat date to Saturday, November 1st to initially accommodate the Ellwood City football home playoff game on Friday and also the inclement weather forecasted for Thursday. PHOTOS: Riverside Falls To Mohawk 35-24 On Senior Night

In a high-scoring section affair, Riverside fell to Mohawk 35-24 to wrap up its regular season. Mohawk quarterback Bobby Fadden accounted for five offensive touchdowns for the Warriors while Panthers quarterback Aiden Gaydosz tossed three touchdowns in defeat. Each quarterback was incredibly accurate and the teams compiled over 700 yards of offense collectively. After Fadden found Joe Nail on a 6-yard scoring strike to open up the scoring, Riverside was left chasing the Warriors on the scoreboard and never held a lead. Talk about a high five! Senior Tyler Smiley went to the air and tossed five touchdown passes Friday Night as Ellwood City routed Riverside 48-14 on Senior Night. The quarterback connected with four different receivers on touchdown strikes with wideout DaiLonn Currie being the recipient of two. Ellwood City marched out early and collected four first half touchdowns to post a 26-0 halftime advantage.
