Addison Drake and Saeryn Hoover each homered and drove in three runs as Riverside earned a 6-1 opening round victory over Brentwood in the WPIAL 2A Softball Playoffs. With her homerun Drake tied the Lady Panthers single season homerun record. A double by Saeryn Hoover helped open up the scoring with a run scoring double in the bottom of the first. Riverside junior Addison Drake hit two home runs and drove in three runs as the Lady Panthers defeated Neshannock 6-5 on Monday at Riverside. Drake’s second homer of the contest, a two-run bomb in the bottom of the fifth inning proved to be the game winning hit as Riverside rallied. Drake finished a perfect 3-3 at the dish, scoring three runs and knocking in three runs. The Riverside baseball and softball teams each collected victories on Friday afternoon. The boys baseball team jumped out early with four first inning runs en route to a 7-2 home victory over Freedom. Jackson Barber, Dylan Meyer, and BrockJames each collected two hits as part of the nine hit offensive performance by the Panthers. Meyer walked twice and collected a team-high two RBIs on the afternoon. Matt Santillo tossed a complete game to earn the victory on the mound for Riverside. Panther Freshman right fielder Ava Cummings collected three hits in four at bats as the #11 seeded Riverside Lady Panthers defeated #3 seed Laurel Varsity Spartans 11-1 on Monday in the WPIAL Class 2A Quarterfinals. The upset victory avenged a pair of lopsided losses to the Spartans during the regular season. The Riverside baseball and softball made quick work of opponents on Wednesday, each earning mercy-rule victories. The Panthers baseball team took to the road and shut-out Beaver Falls 16-0 in four innings. Hunter Garvin smashed a three-run homerun as part of a six run offensive onslaught in the second inning. Williams Accepts Softball Scholarship With Fairmont State University

Last week, Riverside senior shortstop Mia Williams signed to continue her athletic career at Fairmont State University. Williams has started and lettered the past three years of varsity softball and has been named the Beaver County Times Athlete of the Week. As a junior, Williams doubled and collected three RBIs to help lead the Lady Panthers to the quarterfinals of the WPIAL Playoffs for the first since 2013. Lady Panthers Defeat Hopewell Thanks To Sixth Inning Boost

The Riverside Lady Panthers scored eight runs in the sixth inning on its way to a 12-1 victory over Hopewell on Wednesday. Prior to the game four Panther seniors – Madison Fryer, Sam Rosenberger, Braley Zappia, and Aliya Ottaviani – were recognized as part of the Senior Night festivities. For two rival teams that haven’t met in five years, Thursday’s 2-1 extra innings affair at Riverside proved to be well worth the wait.
