PHOTOS: Big Second Inning Propels Lady Wolverines To Victory Over Riverside

Two Ellwood City homers led to an eight run outburst in the second inning that propelled the Lady Wolverines past visiting Riverside 15-2 in varsity softball action. Breonna Streit, Maura Agostinelli, Makinley Magill, Anna Ferrucci, Maria Ioanilli, and Zoe Kalantzis all contributed in the big inning with RBIs. Ellwood City added on six more runs in the third inning. Madi Krugh led things off on the rubber for the Wolverines. She allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out six. Four runs batted in from Reagan Mittler helped lead Wolverines past Riverside in a 20-5 rout on Saturday. Mittler drove in runs on a single in the first and a double in the second. The Wolverines (3-2 overall) fired up the offense in the first inning, when Anna Ferrucci singled scoring the game’s first run. Ellwood City scored in every inning thereafter including a 9-run outburst in the second frame. Bats Blistered as Riverside Panthers Defeats Beaver Falls, 14-9 Both pitching staffs had their hands full on Tuesday in a high-scoring affair where the Riverside Lady Panthers bested Beaver Falls, 14-9. The Panthers (1-1 overall) opened up scoring with a six-run first inning and crept out to a 9-2 lead before the Tigers were able to respond. Beaver Falls scored four runs in the third inning.
