PHOTOS: Big Second Inning Propels Lady Wolverines To Victory Over Riverside

Two Ellwood City homers led to an eight run outburst in the second inning that propelled the Lady Wolverines past visiting Riverside 15-2 in varsity softball action.

Breonna Streit, Maura Agostinelli, Makinley Magill, Anna Ferrucci, Maria Ioanilli, and Zoe Kalantzis all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.  Ellwood City added on six more runs in the third inning.

Madi Krugh led things off on the rubber for the Wolverines. She allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out six.

Kalantzis went for the long ball in the second inning for Ellwood City along with Natalia Greco who also had a four-bagger in the inning.

The Wolverines (5-3 overall) collected nine hits as a team. Kalantzis, Greco, and Streit each managed two hits to lead the Wolverines. Ellwood City tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Greco led the way with two stolen bases and also scored three runs in the contest.

Amelia Bailey got the start for Riverside. She surrendered 15 runs on nine hits over four innings, striking out one.
