PHOTOS: PA Turnpike Continues Progress Thru Stage 3 Of Beaver River Bridge Replacement Project

Those who drive near the Beaver River Bridge Replacement Project are beginning to notice that construction of the new bridge over the Beaver River is now underway. The contractor is currently constructing new abutment footings and drilled shafts, pier footings and columns. Additionally, earthwork and drainage work continues to allow for the wider road and the new interchange ramps being constructed. Accordingly, Turnpike travel lanes have been shifted southward to accommodate the new bridge and roadway construction. Ellwood City collected a section victory on the road Tuesday night, picking up a 58-32 victory over the Riverside Panthers. Joseph Roth led all scorers with 19 points and was among seven Wolverines who scored in the victory.  Roth finished with 13 rebounds and five assists. North Side Students Give Back to Ellwood City Community

North Side Primary Students and Staff welcomed many Community Members and Partners to our school on Monday, December 18th. During the month of December, students are learning how good it makes all of us feel to GIVE. The students put this into practice when each classroom made a very special, giant sized Holiday Card thanking the local community agency and partner for the services they provide Ellwood City. TRAVEL ADVISORY: PA Turnpike Beaver Valley Interchange Eastbound Exit to Temporarily Close

BEAVER COUNTY —Travelers are advised that construction crews will be temporarily closing the eastbound exit at the Beaver Valley Interchange (Exit 13) of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 76) this coming weekend. The exit ramp will be closed, weather permitting, starting at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5. The closure is necessary to allow for the construction of a temporary on and off-ramp so work can continue as part of the ongoing Beaver River Bridge Replacement Project. Ellwood City used a strong running game powered by Elijah Palmer-McCane to rout Riverside 41-0 Friday Night at Riverside Memorial Stadium. The ‘RivEll Cup’ victory also clinched the Wolverines first playoff berth since 2011. Palmer-McCane scored four first half rushing touchdowns as the visiting Wolverines jumped out to a 35-0 halftime advantage. In the first quarter, Palmer-McCane scored from 1-yard out and later in the quarter from 41-yards out. The Riverside Panthers had a tough match-up on Friday, facing a section-leading Neshannock Lancers team. The visiting Lancers (7-1 Overall) flexed their moxy early, scoring five times in the first quarter and racing out to a 49-6 halftime advantage en route to their comfortable 64-20 section victory over Riverside. History is being made at Ellwood City. In a wild offensive showcase Friday night that featured over 100 combined points and 1,000 combined yards of offense by the Wolverines and Lions, another pair of century marks were reached individually by two Ellwood City juniors who combined to lead the Wolverines to a 62-40 victory on Homecoming night. Running back Elijah Palmer-McCane rushed for 285 yards and four touchdowns on the ground and quarterback Chris Smiley threw for 275 yards and five touchdowns. The Riverside Panthers were defeated Friday night 41-6 by Beaver Falls at Riverside Memorial Stadium. After the team exchanged scores to open the section contest, Beaver Falls (3-3 Overall) scored six straight times including a safety, punt return, and interception return to pull away.
