EC Junior High Softball Team Runs Record to 4-0 Ambridge

Another day, another mercy rule shortened victory for the Lady Wolverines. This time, Ambridge was the victim of a 13-1 five inning win at Stiefel Park.   The offense was potent once again as eight different players pounded out 10 hits on the day. Kali Barnett and Maddie Hicks led the way with two singles apiece. Katelyn Wehman and Aliya Garroway each added doubles with Wehman’s shot one bouncing the fence in left field to plate 3 runners. PHOTOS: Four RBI Day for Mittler Leads Wolverines Rout Over Riverside

Four runs batted in from Reagan Mittler helped lead Wolverines past Riverside in a 20-5 rout on Saturday. Mittler drove in runs on a single in the first and a double in the second. The Wolverines (3-2 overall) fired up the offense in the first inning, when Anna Ferrucci singled scoring the game’s first run.  Ellwood City scored in every inning thereafter including a 9-run outburst in the second frame. PHOTOS: Boehm’s Grand Slam Blasts Seals The Deal For Riverside

Gunnar Boehm’s five-RBI outburst sealed the deal in Riverside’s 11-1 mercy rule victory over Ellwood City on Friday afternoon at Dan Oliastro Field. Boehm showed timely hitting on Friday, driving in five runs on only two hits including the grand slam in the pivotal, 7-run 4th inning to lead Riverside. Boehm also doubled in a run in the sixth. The undefeated Avonworth Antelopes scored in extra innings to bounce Ellwood City baseball team on Wednesday while the Avonworth softball team put up a scoring barrage in dismissing the Riverside softball team.  Despite two homeruns, the Ellwood City softball team fell to Steel Valley after a 3-run seventh inning proved a third and final lead change. Bats Blister For Panthers Softball, Busby Shines On Mound For Wolverines

Bats Blistered as Riverside Panthers Defeats Beaver Falls, 14-9 Both pitching staffs had their hands full on Tuesday in a high-scoring affair where the Riverside Lady Panthers bested Beaver Falls, 14-9. The Panthers (1-1 overall) opened up scoring with a six-run first inning and crept out to a 9-2 lead before the Tigers were able to respond. Beaver Falls scored four runs in the third inning. Fox Powers Panthers In Blowout, EC Junior High Softball Collects First Victory

The Riverside Panthers easily dispatched New Brighton 11-1 on Monday afternoon at Dan Oliastro Field. Riverside (3-1 overall) got on the board in the first inning with some power as Austin Dambach smashed a 2-run home run to stake the Panthers to an early lead. After adding on in the second and fourth innings, the Panthers exploded for four runs in the sixth inning. Dambach, Danny Fox, and Nick Ottaviani powered the big inning with RBIs. Mittler’s Walkoff Picture Perfect Ending In Wolverines’s Victory Over Avonworth

A walk-off single propelled Wolverines to a decisive, dramatic victory over Avonworth, 20-19 on Friday afternoon. Wolverines trailed 19-18 in the bottom of the seventh inning after rallying from a double digit deficit when Reagan Mittler singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Wolverines collected 13 hits and Avonworth had 11 in a wild game that featured four combined home runs, 24 walks by both teams, and ten combined errors in the contest. The Riverside varsity baseball team came out on the victors end of a shutout on Thursday while the Wolverines took a shutout defeat on Thursday. The Panthers defeated Mohawk Area 8-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Riverside notched four runs in the sixth inning. Ellwood City Wolverines Can’t Catch Up To Armstrong

Ellwood City watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-4 loss to Armstrong on Saturday. Armstrong scored on a ground out by Caleb Harriger, a walk by Josh Hepler, an error, and a stolen base by Paul Cypher in a 5-run first inning. The Wolverines struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Armstrong, giving up 14 runs on 11 hits, with the defense surrendering four errors.
