Skyler Fox Wins PIAA Class 2A Golf Championship

Riverside senior Skyler Fox has won the 2019 PIAA Class 2A Golf Championship held at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York, PA this week. Fox fired a 1-over round of 72 on the second day of the tournament, separating himself from the field in winning by three strokes. Fox, who shared the first-round lead with Elijah Ruppert of Brandywine Heights and Cam Colbert of Hickory, collected two second-round birdies Tuesday en route to a 144 two-round total (72-72).  A shotgun start placed Fox off the back-nine to begin play and, after a slow start, played one-under on the front nine…

PHOTOS: Panthers Air Attack Helps Defeat Valley On Senior Night

The Riverside Panthers used another air attack to defeat Valley Friday night, 24-14 on senior night. Ben Hughes threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns to lead Riverside (6-2) to the nonconference win against Valley (1-8). Nathan Sciarro caught eight passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns and added a 27-yard field goal. The victories places the Panthers in a win-and-get-in playoff scenario next week against New Brighton.  The winner of the Week 9 contest between the Panthers and Lions will clinch a WPIAL playoff berth with several other playoff implications on the line next week. PHOTOS: Ellwood City Girls Volleyball Defeats Laurel On Senior Night

The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team capped senior night in victorious fashion, defeating the visiting Laurel Spartans Tuesday evening. Five Wolverine volleyball seniors were recognized before the match. After dropping the first set, Ellwood City rebounded with three consecutive set victories to take the match (19-25, 25-23, 25-26, 25-22) For the seniors, they experienced many wins and some losses on the playing court. They’ve left their blood, sweat, tears, and emotions on the court and they’ve learned how to compete with each other but still root for each other. Riverside quarterback Ben Hughes made sure his last ‘RivEll’ game would be a memorable one. The senior tossed a career-high six touchdown passes to lead the Panthers to a 49-28 victory over Ellwood City Friday night as part of Riverside homecoming festivities. The Panthers raced out to an early lead, and capped by Hughes’ third touchdown strike of the half – a 36-yard strike to Nathan Sciarro – led the Wolverines 28-0 at the half. Riverside Boys Golf Team Advances To WPIAL Team Finals

The Riverside Boys Golf Team advanced to the 2019 WPIAL Class-AA Team Finals after posting a team score of 430 on Tuesday at Beaver Valley Golf Club. Skyler Fox fired a round of 72 (32-40) to lead the Panthers while fellow senior Justin Hand finished with a round of 75 for the Panthers. Ethan Ilarski (95), Logan Greer (88), and Liam Grinner (100) also contributed to the team’s total. Sewickley Academy (386) and Neshannock (429) joined Riverside in advancing from the semifinal bracket.  The AA Championship will now consist of those three teams plus North Catholic, Quaker Valley and Derry….

PHOTOS: Wolverines Defeated In Homecoming Game; Panthers Run Wild In Victory

The Wolverines were wiped out 19-0 by visiting Western Beaver on Friday night as part of the Ellwood City homecoming festivities. Saylee Grinnen was crowned 2019 Homecoming Queen at halftime. Skyler Fox & Justin Hand Both Qualifty For PIAA Golf Finals

A special congratulations go out to Riverside student-athletes Skyler Fox and Justin Hand for both qualifying for the PIAA Western Regional golf finals. In a bid to become the first four-time WPIAL boys golf champion, Skyler Fox finished in second place on Thursday, after firing a round of 71, one off of the lead. Sewickley Academy senior J.F. Skyler Fox Claims MAC Boys Golf Championship

It has been a special two days for the Riverside Golf team. First, on Tuesday both Justin Hand and Skyler Fox individually qualified for the WPIAL Individual Finals. And more recently, on Wednesday at the Midwestern Athletic Conference (MAC) boys golf championship, Fox took home the Championship after carding a 4-under round of 68 at the aptly named Fox Run Golf Course in Beaver Falls. Fox’s Riverside teammate Justin Hand, the defending champion, finished tied for 4th Place with a round of 73. Riverside finished in 4th place in the team scoring. PHOTOS: Big Plays Doom Wolverines In Defeat; Riverside Panthers Victorious

Big plays doomed the Ellwood City, as a 94-yard first quarter touchdown run, kick-started what became on offensive onslaught by Neshannock as the visiting Lancers routed the Wolverines 44-0 Friday night. The Lancers used five scoring plays of over 30 yards, including two scoring runs of 55+ yards, to race away to victory. The Wolverines offense was held to under 100 yards of total offense.  The game was called with 4:08 left when a series of lightning strikes occurred in the distance.
