Covert Ends BC3 Golf Career With Low Score At Nationals

Mitchell Covert shot a four-round 335 at Chautauqua Golf Club’s Lake Course in Chautauqua, N.Y. last Friday. Covert and Taylor Voloch ended their careers as Butler County Community College golfers by finishing the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III championship tournaments with scores lower than they posted in 2025. Covert shot a 474 in 2025. Voloch had a 441 in 2026 after a 474 in 2025. Ellwood City Tennis Holding 3-Day Mini Clinic Next Month

Ellwood City Tennis will be conducting a tennis clinic for any boy or girl interested in learning the basics of tennis. The tennis clinic will be held on July 6th, 7th and 8th, 2026 at the Ewing Park Courts from 10:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Any child ages 5-12 is eligible to sign up and participate. Two rivals will not meet for a fourth time this year. Ellwood City and Riverside both fell in the opening round of the PIAA Playoffs on Monday abandoning a potential quarterfinal matchup and fourth meeting of the cross town teams. WPIAL Champion Ellwood City was defeated 4-1 by Philipsburg-Osceola Monday evening at Sanders Field in Ewing Park. The Ellwood City Family Center is set to host a five-day youth volleyball clinic this month. TRAFFIC ALERT: Carmen Beatrice Blvd Will Be One-Way On Monday Ahead Of PIAA Playoff Game

On Monday June 1, the Ellwood City Borough, Mayor Tony Court and Ellwood City School District have decided to temporarily turn Carmen Beatrice Blvd into one way traffic. Traffic will only be able to travel from the tennis courts towards Route 65 starting at 12:00 noon. Ellwood City hosts Philipsburg-Osceola at 4:00 p.m. at Sanders Field in the opening round of the PIAA Baseball Playoffs. Butler County Community College men’s golfer and Lincoln High School graduate Mitchell Cover earned a chance Tuesday to compete for All-American status, as did the Pioneers’ Mason Phillips. Covert also advanced to the national championship in New York by winning a sudden-death playoff against a teammate after regulation play in a regional qualifier. The 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III national tournament is scheduled for June 1-5 at Chautauqua Golf Club’s Lake Course.
