Q&A: Ramsden Returns For Second Stint As Panthers Head Coach

Fran Ramsden returns for his second stint leading the Riverside football program ahead of the 2026 season which sees the Panthers return 14 seniors playing this year. Ramsden enters his 15th season coaching and returns to the head coach position after a two year stint in 2021-2022. Riverside finished its 2025 regular season 5-5 Overall and 4-3 in Midwestern Conference, earning a 10-seed in the WPIAL 2A Playoffs but was stymied 28-7 by #7 Apollo-Ridge and fell in its opening round contest last October. EC Boys Golf Improves To 3-0; Girls Golf Now 2-0

The Ellwood City boys and girls golf teams are both off to unbeaten starts to their 2026 seasons. The Wolverines boys team fired a third consecutive sub-200 team round on Tuesday afternoon at Del Mar, knocking off Shenango 192-227. Gino Biondi finished with team best round of 34 (-2) while Cam Keller (37, +1) and Luca Carsele (39, +3) finished with sub-40 rounds Tuesday. Coach Rak’s Free Basketball Camp Continues to Make a Difference

More than 40 local children spent part of their summer on the basketball court thanks to the third annual Coach Rak Free Youth Basketball Camp. Open to boys and girls ages 6–12, this year’s camp welcomed 40 young athletes—25 boys and 15 girls—for five days of basketball fundamentals, skill development, teamwork, and fun. The Ellwood Area Family Center will be hosting a youth basketball clinic for Ages 8-11 beginning next Monday. The basketball sessions will be held at the Ellwood Area Family Center on the North Side of Ellwood City on Monday evenings beginning on Monday, August 10th. Boardman Defeats Ellwood City 1-0 To Win 75th Ellwood City Little League Tournament

Boardman, Ohio defeated Ellwood City, 1-0, to win the 75th Ellwood City Little League Tournament at Freidhoff Field on Wednesday night. Kyler Diaz smacked a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning and the one run proved to be the difference. Ellwood City defeated Neshannock, 4-1, on Monday night at Freidhoff Field to reach the finals of the 75th Ellwood City Little League Tournament.
