TRAFFIC ALERT: Carmen Beatrice Blvd Will Be One-Way On Monday Ahead Of PIAA Playoff Game

On Monday June 1, the Ellwood City Borough, Mayor Tony Court and Ellwood City School District have decided to temporarily turn Carmen Beatrice Blvd into one way traffic. Traffic will only be able to travel from the tennis courts towards Route 65 starting at 12:00 noon. Ellwood City hosts Philipsburg-Osceola at 4:00 p.m. at Sanders Field in the opening round of the PIAA Baseball Playoffs. Parking for the game will start at the fieldhouse and run towards the tennis courts in an attempt to alleviate damages from foul balls. Overflow parking if needed will be sent to the swimming pool…

The comeback kids did it again. The Wolverines rallied for a third consecutive playoff game to knock off South Park 5-2 Wednesday afternoon at EQT Park in Washington to claim the WPIAL Class 3A Championship. The Wolverines rallied again! Ellwood City defeated defending WPIAL champion and cross-town rival Riverside 6-5 Thursday evening at Butler’s Pullman Park to advance to the Class 3A Championship game. Lincoln Grad Covert, BC3 Teammate Qualify For Golf Nationals, Eye All-American Status

Butler County Community College men’s golfer and Lincoln High School graduate Mitchell Cover earned a chance Tuesday to compete for All-American status, as did the Pioneers’ Mason Phillips. Covert also advanced to the national championship in New York by winning a sudden-death playoff against a teammate after regulation play in a regional qualifier. The 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III national tournament is scheduled for June 1-5 at Chautauqua Golf Club’s Lake Course. Jacob Biskup connected on a walkoff RBI single to cap a Wolverine 5-4 comeback victory over Burrell Tuesday evening at Butler’s Pullman Park. Amber McQuistion threw a shutout to lead Ellwood City past McGuffey 3-0 on Monday at North Allegheny High School. The pitching was strong on both sides. Wolverine runner Lucas Bleakney placed 3rd in both the 1600m and 3200m events at the WPIAL Class 2A track and field championships Thursday at Slippery Rock University. Bleakney finished 4:19.31 in the 1600m run and 9:32.82 in the 3200m run. Quaker Valley’s Jonah Montagnese placed 1st in each event.
