Boariu, Wolverines Emerge Victorious Against Rochester

A near triple-double performance by Wolverine senior Broc Boariu propelled Ellwood City to a 64-41 victory over Rochester on Tuesday at Lincoln High School. Boariu finished with 26 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Wolverines to the coast-to-coast victory.  Ellwood City never trailed in the contest. Wolverine Boys Fall To Hopewell, EC & RHS Girls Victorious

Wolverine Boys Lose To Hopewell Ellwood City fell to Hopewell on Monday, 72-67, even with freshman Steve Antuono scoring 20 points. Jake McGovern scored a game-high 21 points, on seven 3-pointers, to help Hopewell secure the victory. Ellwood City and Hopewell were tied up at 36-36 at the half, but Hopewell gained the momentum during the third quarter, stretching out to a seven-point lead. Morella Among Four Named To All-Region XX Volleyball Squad

(Butler, PA) – Ellwood City graduate Madison Morella was among four players on a Butler County Community College volleyball team crowned in October as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Region XX champions are among nine selections to the All-Region XX squad. Setter Mackenzie Craig, of Karns City; middle hitter Emily Magusiak, of New Castle; and right-side hitter Makenzie McDowell, of Knoch, were named to a seven-member first team; and middle hitter Morella, was one of two players chosen as honorable mention. Wrestling Meeting To Be Held Monday

There will be a wrestling meeting for all parents with students in grades 7-12 at Riverside and Ellwood City who are interested in wrestling.   The meeting on Monday, November 19 beginning at 6:00pm. The meeting will take place in the Ellwood City School District cafeteria.  All interested in wrestling are welcome to attend the public meeting. Lincoln High School Senior Ariana Garroway has decided to continue her softball career by signing with Robert Morris University. Leading up to this opportunity has been years of hard work in her varsity softball career. Within the past three years, Garroway had proven herself to her coach multiple times. Ellwood City Varsity Football Head Coach Contract Terminated

The Ellwood City Area School District has terminated the contract of varsity head coach Nick Hand. Hand stepped down prior to the 2018 season due to an illness. Stiefel Hockey Fall Session Wrapup: Darkness, The Alchemists Take Titles

Two local roller hockey teams collected recent championships in the Stiefel Hockey Fall League.  The A League champions were Darkness, who had bested Rage 5-1 in the finale, while The Alchemists claimed a repeat championship in the B League. Darkness finished the fall season with a 7-1 regular season record and the team led the A League in goal differential. Charleroi shrugged off a sluggish started and used defensive plays in the second half to turn momentum, avoid another upset, and come away with a 35-21 victory over Riverside Friday night at Myron Pottios Stadium.
