Wolverines Tennis Defeats Beaver Falls

Ellwood City earned a 4-1 team victory during Mondays boy’s tennis match between Ellwood City and Beaver Falls. Leading the Wolverine singles was Alex Scott who won two clean 6-0 sets against his Beaver Falls opponent. Ellwood’s Max Kuffer also won his singles match (6-1, 6-2), which helped lead the Wolverines to the 4-1 team victory. During doubles action, Ellwood City’s Bradon Barr and Devin Lust came back from an opening set defeat to win the last two sets 6-4 and 6-4 to collect a match victory. Varsity Softball Team Defeats Beaver Falls; Improves To 3-1 After spotting the Tigers a 2-0 lead on two singles and two errors in the top of the first, The Lady Wolverines would score the next 17 runs to win the three-inning mercy rule shortened game by a final of 17-2. EC Varsity Softball Team Defeats Shenango; Improves to 2-1 on the Season

After a losing effort on Thursday against Ambridge, the Lady Wolverines got back to their winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they beat Shenango 14-2 on the Wildcats home turf.  The game was much closer than the final score as the Wolverines held a slim 3-2 lead until the fifth inning. Scott Collects Victory, Wolverines Tennis Defeated

Alex Scott led the Wolverines tennis team with straight-set victory (6-4, 6-1) in his singles match versus Beaver Area on Tuesday at Ewing Park. The boys team, however, fell to the Bobcats 4-1 in team play. Junior High Softball Team Defeats North Allegheny Black

After defeating North Allegheny White on Tuesday, the black squad visited Stiefel Park on Wednesday. This game was more competitive but the end result was another victory for the Lady Wolverines. The young ladies prevailed by a score of 13-9. The Wolverines jumped out fast as they plated 7 runs in the home half of the first. EC Grad Skyla Greco Named PSAC West Softball Pitcher Of The Week

For the second time in her sophomore season, Skyla Greco has been named the PSAC West Softball Pitcher of the Week. The Seton Hill sophomore also earned the first award for this season from the league as well. Greco threw a no-hitter game during the second game of a doubleheader sweep of Wheeling Jesuit. She gave up only one unearned run during an error in the first inning to help keep the Cardinals hitless, finishing out the game with a strikeout six for the win. EC Softball Victorious In Blowout, Baseball Team Falls Short

The Ellwood City girls softball team exploded for 10 hits en route to a 15-0, mercy rule-shortened victory over Blackhawk on Monday at Stiefel Park.  The Lady Wolverines plated four runs in the first and two in the second before a nine-run third inning put the game quickly out of reach. Riverside Basketball Player Selected For Roundball Classic All-Stars

Riverside senior Brian Macmurdo was selected to play in Saturday, April 13’s 3A v. 4A Roundball Classic All-Stars game. The game will be played at 6:00 p.m. “It’s an honor to be selected to play alongside so many great players,” said Macmurdo. Ellwood City Local Boxer Fights For A Win

Ellwood City local boxer, Rosalindo Morales, took the win at a much-anticipated boxing match back in early February of this year. Morales now has been boxing for 13 years, and just had one of the biggest boxing match-ups yet. He was 2-0 going against the 2-1 Cleveland native Jeremy Abram at Mountaineer Casino in a scheduled four-round bout. This match was two months in the process, the idea came up in late December.
