Ellwood City Junior High Softball Rolls By Beaver Falls and Shenango

The Ellwood City Junior High softball team racked up two big wins this past week against Beaver Falls and Shenango. After defeating their cross town rival Riverside last week, the Wolverines continued on their winning ways to bring their season record to 6-1. Pitchers Schwarz and Bogacki each pitched quick games this week with the team only playing eight innings between two games. Bogacki pitched the first game of the week on Monday against Shenango but didn’t have to stay in there long. Falk Homers, Powers Riverside Over Rival Ellwood City

Aaron Falk powered the Riverside Panthers to a 6-2 victory over Ellwood City Friday afternoon. Falk drove in runs with a single in the first, a double in the second, and a home run in the fifth inning. The Panthers jumped out to an early when Evan Burry collected a run scoring double in the first inning. Riverside staked claim to a 3-0 lead after the first frame and never looked back. Both Riverside and Ellwood City varsity softball teams had great wins on Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers won big on the road at Union Area High School while the Wolverines had a victory against Beaver Falls on their home field at Stiefel Park. Ellwood City Junior High Softball Team Improves Record to 4-1 After Win Against Riverside

The Ellwood City Junior High Softball Team improved their season record to 4-1 after a victory against their cross town rival Riverside on Monday night. In the month of April, the team has only suffered a 9-5 loss to Mohawk and is currently on a four game win streak. In their last game against Riverside, the Wolverines took care of business 10-1 with pitchers Emma Bogacki and Amber McQuiston leading the way. Both Riverside and Ellwood City varsity softball teams had strong performances in their respective victories Monday afternoon.  The Panthers won on the road while the Wolverines collected a home victory. Belzyck and Kralic Shine for Riverside in Beaver County Championships

The Beaver County Championships were held this past Saturday at Riverside High School and teams from all over Beaver County came to compete at one of the first big invitational of the 2021 season. Seniors Colby Belzyck and Graham Kralic from Riverside High School each took first place in more than one event to propel the Panthers to another championship. The Panthers won the invitational in 2019, but last years meet was cancelled due to COVID-19. Belzyck took first in the 800 meter run, 1,600 meter run, and was a part of the winning 1,600 meter relay team. Kralic took…

Ellwood City Softball Earns Big Comeback With Walkoff Victory

The Ellwood City softball team displayed a tremendous amount of character and grit with a great walk off win over Avonworth Wednesday afternoon at Stiefel Park. The team overcame two different deficits by scoring seven runs over the final two innings to earn the 7-6 victory. In a rather successful afternoon for the local baseball and softball teams, Ellwood City baseball and softball teams both earned victories while the Riverside baseball team defeated Aliquippa handily. Wolverines Grab Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over Freedom Area Ellwood City bounced back from a four run deficit and stole the lead late, defeating Freedom 8-4 on the road Tuesday. The Lincoln High School softball team took advantage of terrific weekend weather and played two games. They lost to Keystone Oaks on Friday and bounced back with a win against Union on Saturday. Proclamation Presented To WPIAL Champion Boys Basketball Team

Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a proclamation to the Ellwood City Wolverines basketball team this week. The team captured the school’s first WPIAL Championship in the school’s history in March with its victory over South Allegheny.
