Wolverines Cruise To Road Victory Over Mohawk

Ellwood City jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 71-44 section victory on the road Tuesday night over Mohawk. Alexander Roth and Steve Antuono each scored seven first quarter points for the Wolverines who jumped out to a commanding 27-6 lead. The Wolverines showcased a balanced team and individual scoring attack. BC3 Cancels Seasons Of 3 Indoor Intercollegiate Sports

(Butler, PA) The seasons of Butler County Community College’s three indoor intercollegiate athletic programs postponed last fall to this winter have been canceled with continued regard to COVID-19 and in observance of out-of-state travel orders announced by the state Department of Health on Nov. 17. The college announced Monday its cancellation of its men’s and women’s basketball seasons, and of its volleyball season for the 2020-2021 academic year. BC3 will determine later whether the seasons of its intercollegiate athletic programs in baseball, golf and softball will be held. Riverside Girls Basketball Ready To Ball With First-Year Head Coach

The Riverside Lady Panthers will travel to face Mohawk on Monday, January 11th before settling in to its first home game on Thursday, January 14th versus the Laurel Spartans.  The team will welcome the long overdue season and begin with new faces, players and coach, on the bench. “We lost a lot of scoring due to graduation, so we will need players to step up into the role of scoring production,” said first year head coach Renee Drake. Proclamation Presented to EC Girls Volleyball Team

Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a proclamation to the Ellwood City girls volleyball team, remarking on the team’s outstanding accomplishments. The team finished with a 17-1 overall record earning a Class 2A, Section 1 championship and WPIAL Finals appearance. “Proud of this special group on an outstanding season!” said Mayor Court in a statement. “Congratulations girls!” The Wolverines were ousted by North Catholic 3-1 in the WPIAL Class 2A championship November 7 at Fox Chapel, suffering their lone defeat of the season. Upcoming Ellwood City Wrestling Season Announced

Interested in wrestling? The Ellwood City Varsity and Junior High Wrestling season is starting soon! The first practice will take place on Friday, November 20, 2020, scheduled to take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Lincoln High School Cafeteria. Practices will be Monday thru Friday with optional lifting sessions three times a week at 3:10 p.m. There are temperature checks before every practice/hand sanitizer and the mats cleaned to CDC standards. There are several tournaments the team is planning to attend this season including, Panther Holiday Classic (Varsity Only), Mid-Winter Mayhem (Varsity Only), and West Mifflin Christmas Tournament….

Registration Open For 25th Annual Gobbler’s Gallop On Thanksgiving

The Gobbler’s Gallop turns a quarter century. The 25th annual Gobbler’s Gallop will take place on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, at Riverside High School’s Memorial Stadium. The 10K race will start at 9:00 a.m. sharp while the 5k race will be begin at 10:15 a.m.  The event also offers a 5k for walkers that will begin at 9:0 a.m. Registration will begin at the Riverside Kindergarten Center at 8:00 a.m. for 10k and 5k walkers.  All people must wear a mask during registration and at the start of the race but not while running.
