Ellwood City Softball Off To Torrid Start, Defeating New Brighton & Ambridge

Ellwood City started their season off in grand fashion as they invoked the mercy rule in both game over the weekend as the Wolverines easily dispatched New Brighton and Ambridge. On Friday, in their 13-1 victory, the Wolverines started out quickly as lead off batter Kali Barnett reached on an error on the right fielder and later scored on a sacrifice fly to center field by Angie Nardone. Ellwood City Area Historical Society Planning Local Sports Stars Awards Parade

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society would like to recognize the best athletes, past and present, who were born in Ellwood City area or who went to Lincoln or Riverside High Schools with a sports banquet later this year. This is a call for our members to nominate an athlete in any varsity or club sport offered by the high schools as well as baseball, football, basketball, boxing, wrestling, swimming, softball, hockey, auto racing or any other recognized sport. Riverside Softball Falls to Central Valley; Ellwood Tennis Defeated by Neshannock

The Lady Panthers struggled to get their offense going on Wednesday, getting easily dispatched by Central Valley, 14-4. Riverside fired up the offense in the first inning. Sydney Hale blasted a 2-run homerun as the Panthers raced out to three early runs. Central Valley responded with two runs in the bottom half of the frame and pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. Riverside Boys Tennis Defeats Ellwood City

The Riverside Boys Tennis team collected a 4-1 victory in tennis action Monday afternoon at Riverside High School. Ethan Hughes (6-3, 6-0) collected straight set victory in singles while Payne Hoover & Kaysen Conver (6-2, 6-3) and Avery Wolf & Liam Gallagher (6-3, 6-4) collected straight set victories to pace Riverside. Ellwood City Little Wolverines Football 2021 Registration Now Open!

Registration is now open for the Ellwood City Little Wolverines Football 2021 season. Registration cost is $125.00, plus a refundable $75 equipment deposit. This equipment deposit will be refunded upon the return of all issued equipment in good condition. (ECLWF does offer discounts on siblings registering, and the equipment deposit is per family.) First player is $125, sibling is $105, and third sibling is $85. The $75 equipment deposit may be paid at registration, but is not required for initial registration. Wolverines To Host Brookville In PIAA Quarterfinals

The Ellwood City boys basketball team, fresh off their first ever WPIAL Championship, will now turn their focus to the PIAA Playoffs that begin this weekend. Petrak Shines As Ohio State University Swimming Repeats As Big Ten Champs

Former Lincoln High School graduate Taylor Petrak helped propel the Ohio State Buckeyes to a successful repeat of its Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championship crown last month. Petrak, a Ohio State University senior, is now one of 12 Buckeye women’s swimmers that have descended upon the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C., to compete at the 2021 NCAA Championships this weekend. Riverside Turns Focus to PIAA Swimming Championships

The Riverside swimming team will compete the in the PIAA Swimming Championships Friday afternoon at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. For the Panthers team, winners of a pair of golds in the 200 and 400 meter free relays at the WPIAL Swimming Championships, they will look to showcase its relay team in three PIAA relay events and display some individual talent with the Roth brothers each swimming in individual events. Ellwood City Wrestling Holding A Raffle Fundraiser

Even though the high school wresting season has ended, the Ellwood City Wrestling Booster Club is working to continue to raise funds for their team. With many prior fundraising activities cancelled due to COVID-19, the club will be holding a fundraising raffle to support junior high and varsity wrestling. The winner will receive a $500.00 gift certificate to Milk House Meats. The raffle is $10.00 per tip donation and can be purchased online.  The raffle closes once all tickets have been sold.
