The Ellwood City Area Historical Society would like to recognize the best athletes, past and present, who were born in Ellwood City area or who went to Lincoln or Riverside High Schools with a sports banquet later this year. This is a call for our members to nominate an athlete in any varsity or club sport offered by the high schools as well as baseball, football, basketball, boxing, wrestling, swimming, softball, hockey, auto racing or any other recognized sport. The Lady Panthers struggled to get their offense going on Wednesday, getting easily dispatched by Central Valley, 14-4. Riverside fired up the offense in the first inning. Sydney Hale blasted a 2-run homerun as the Panthers raced out to three early runs. The Riverside Boys Tennis team collected a 4-1 victory in tennis action Monday afternoon at Riverside High School. Ethan Hughes (6-3, 6-0) collected straight set victory in singles while Payne Hoover & Kaysen Conver (6-2, 6-3) and Avery Wolf & Liam Gallagher (6-3, 6-4) collected straight set victories to pace Riverside. Registration is now open for the Ellwood City Little Wolverines Football 2021 season. Registration cost is $125.00, plus a refundable $75 equipment deposit. This equipment deposit will be refunded upon the return of all issued equipment in good condition. (ECLWF does offer discounts on siblings registering, and the equipment deposit is per family.) Petrak Shines As Ohio State University Swimming Repeats As Big Ten Champs

Former Lincoln High School graduate Taylor Petrak helped propel the Ohio State Buckeyes to a successful repeat of its Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championship crown last month. Petrak, a Ohio State University senior, is now one of 12 Buckeye women’s swimmers that have descended upon the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C., to compete at the 2021 NCAA Championships this weekend. The Riverside swimming team will compete the in the PIAA Swimming Championships Friday afternoon at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Ellwood City Wrestling Holding A Raffle Fundraiser

Even though the high school wresting season has ended, the Ellwood City Wrestling Booster Club is working to continue to raise funds for their team. With many prior fundraising activities cancelled due to COVID-19, the club will be holding a fundraising raffle to support junior high and varsity wrestling.
