Golf Recap: EC Boys Defeat Rival Riverside, EC Girls Fall to Seneca Valley

The Ellwood City boys golfers defeated rival Riverside 203-249 on Tuesday at Del Mar Golf Course with Milo Sesti recording a 1-under par round of 35 for the victors. For the boys, Dan Ditri (41), Geoffrey Boker (42), Joey Hudson (43), and Daniel Rogers (43) joined Sesti on the scorecard.  Logan Greer finished with a team low round of 37 for Riverside in defeat. Ellwood City boys golf team now improves to 2-0 on the season. For the girls, the lady golfers lost a tough battle against Seneca Valley 203 – 181 on Tuesday at Connoquenessing Country Club. EC Boys Golf Opens Season With Victory Over Mohawk

Ellwood City Boys Golf Team used strong rounds by Joey Hudson and Milo Sesti to collect a season opening victory over Mohawk on Thursday at Stonecrest Golf Course. Sesti fired a team low round of 39 while Hudson finished with a round of 40 to lead the victors to its 214-237 victory. Other Wolverines golfers contributing in victory were Geoffrey Boker (41), Ryan Hampton (43), and Zac Polojac (51). Low round for Mohawk was Jack Barth who fired a round of 42. Ellwood City 12U Softball Team Falls Short In Championship; Mohawk Wins County Title

Many say that one of the hardest tasks in sports is to defeat a team three times in the same season. The Lady Wolverines experienced it the hard way as Mohawk led from wire to wire and defeated Ellwood City 14-0. After both teams went quietly in the first inning, Mohawk got things started in the second inning as they went up 1-0 on an error and RBI single. Keller, Ellwood City Down Riverside To Claim 69th Little League Championship

Jordan Keller powered Ellwood City to a 10-8 victory over Riverside Saturday night, helping EC claim its championship in the 69th Ellwood City Little League Tournament. Keller collected a home run, two doubles and six RBI. Ellwood City successfully defended its title from last season and won its first back-to-back titles since 1971-1972. Ellwood City defeated Mars, 4-2, to win last year’s championship. Riverside took the early lead with three runs in the first inning. Ellwood City Downs Seneca Valley, Advances to Little League Championship

Ellwood City downed Seneca Valley North, 5-3, to advance to the finals of the 69th Ellwood City Little League Tournament at Freidhoff Field on Thursday night.  With some great play from rival Riverside, a rematch between the rivals could decide the championship. On Thursday Ellwood City erased a 3-0 deficit with a five-run rally in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jordan Keller smacked a two-run homer down the right field line to give Ellwood City a 4-3 lead. EC 12u Softball Team Wins Playoff Thriller Vs Shenango, Advances To Championship Game

At first glance, the semifinal playoff game had all the makings of a great game. Two evenly matched teams were meeting for the third time with both teams collecting a victory. The rubber match that took place at Stiefel Park on Tuesday night was all of that and more. EC Edges Riverside In Opening Night of Little League Tournament

Ellwood City edged Riverside, 7-6, in the nightcap of the opening night of the 69th Ellwood City Little League Tournament at Freidhoff Field Monday night. In yet another battle of zip code 16117, the crosstown rivals staged a barn burner before a crowd of over 300 fans. Jordan Keller gave Ellwood City a 6-0 lead with a grand slam in the second inning. ECASD Board to Consider Virtual Broadcasts for Sports Spectators

Ellwood City Area School District’s sports could be virtual for spectators come Fall. The board is set to consider a proposal that would include a $2,000 cost to stream home games. “It is a great way to get our sports out there,” said Interim Superintendent Wes Shipley. With the continuation of Covid-19, state mandated restrictions and regulations will cause a new look to the upcoming sports seasons.
