Junior High Softball Team Gets Lit Up By Armstrong; Record Falls To 6-2

As Armstrong entered the bottom of the fourth inning to hit, they held a 4-1 advantage. 15 batters later, the Lady Wolverines were getting on the bus and heading home with a 16-1 defeat that was ended by the mercy rule in that same 4th inning. Armstrong put on an offensive show with 14 hits including two homers four doubles, and one triple. The Wolverine defense also committed 6 errors that led to 10 unearned runs that did not help matters.

Conversely, Ellwood City was only able to muster 2 singles on the day. Maddie Hicks provided all of the offense as she had both hits and scored the only run in the second inning as she singled, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and also scored on a wild pitch. Over the last 11 innings, the offense has gone cold as they’ve managed just 1 run in the two losses and have struck out an unbelievable 28 times.

Julia Nardone took the loss as she went 3 innings. She gave up 9 runs, 3 earned on 9 hits. She struck out 5 and walked 2. Aliya Garroway went 2/3s of an inning and gave up 7 runs, 3 earned on 5 hits. She fanned 1 and walked 1.

The young ladies will look to get back in the win column today as they head to Freedom for a 4pm start.
