Primary Election Results: Ellwood City School Board

Three newcomers will join four incumbents on the ballot for Ellwood City School Director in November’s general election in the race for five seats. Incumbants include: LeRoy Cortez, Danielle Woodhead, Jennifer Tomon, Erica Sutkowski Gray. They will be joined by Jean Biehls, Kathleen Pansera, and Gary Rozanski. Incumbants, new faces will be on ballot for Ellwood City Council in November’s general election. Current Council President Judith Dici, democrat, will be joined by fellow council members Marilyn Mancini, democrat, and George Celli, republican. Newcomers Caleb Cragle, democrat; and Raymond Venezie and Brandon Fisher both republicans will also be on the ballot. Hospital to Host Dunkin’ Truck for National Emergency Medical Services Recognition Week

In honor of National Emergency Medical Services Recognition Week and all the local workers, the Ellwood City Medical Center will be hosting the Dunkin’ Donuts catering truck Friday morning from 8 to 11 a.m. “We at Ellwood City Medical Center are recognizing the dedication and commitment of our local Emergency Responders and staff to helping those in their most desperate time of need by providing a small token of our appreciation,” said Victoria Gatto, marketing manager at the medical center. Council Votes to Create Hospital/Medical District

Ellwood City Borough Council voted Monday night 6-0 to create a hospital/medical district on the property where the Ellwood City Medical Center is located. Missing from the vote was councilman Rob Brough. There was no public input during Monday’s vote. The move is meant to protect the hospital and surrounding offices from being developed as anything but a medical facility. Benefit Run Pig Roast

The Yellow Ribbon Girls and the American Legion Riders will be hosting a Benefit Run Pig Roast on Saturday, June 1. Donations from the benefit will help support not only the Yellow Ribbon Girls and the American Legion Riders, but the Navy Vietnam Veteran Rick Cantolina as well as many other veterans in need. Ellwood City Felon Pleads Guilty to Distributing Fentanyl, Illegally Possessing Pistols and Ammunition

PITTSBURGH -A felon from Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of violating federal firearms and narcotics laws, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced Friday. Derick Davare, 32, pleaded guilty to four counts before United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab.
