Lawrence County Lions Club Plans Casino Trip

The Lawrence County Area Lions Club are planning a bus trip to the Meadows Casino on July 2, 2019. The bus will leave from Ewing Park across from the swimming pool at 8:30am. Flood Help May Be Available For Franklin Township Residents

According to information made available by Franklin Township this week, residents may have help in recovering from the recent bouts of heavy rains and flooding that hit the area late last month. If you had first-floor damage to your house regarding the recent flash flood, please contact the township secretary, Shannon Schlosser, at twpsecretary@zoominternet.net to get a survey to fill out. The township has to collect a damage assessment report to submit to the County. Senator Vogel Proposes Delay on Costly Vehicle Inspection Mandate

Senator Elder Vogel today (May 30) unveiled a measure that would delay a costly mandate on local garages that ultimately would increase the fees paid by motorists when their vehicles are inspected. Senator Vogel’s legislation would extend the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s November 1 deadline for existing emissions inspection stations to obtain expensive new testing equipment. “My bill is part of a coordinated effort to bring much-needed updates and reforms to Pennsylvania’s emissions testing program. The Class of 2019 has graduated! 117 Lincoln High School seniors as well as an additional 38 students from Lawrence County Vo-Tech received diplomas as part of the ceremonies at the Leslie H. Sabo Memorial Auditorium Thursday evening. Nine students graduated with high honors: Katherine Bowser, Alex Fotia, Chloe Kuffer, Patricia McMillin, Caden Myers, Kaitlyn Navolio, Madeline Spadafore, and Reece Wilson. Penn State Extension To Offer Drinking Water Workshop

Penn State Extension in Lawrence County will host a Drinking Water Workshop on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. The workshop will be held from 3-5pm at the New Castle Public Library. The workshop is free. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. This workshop will provide education on proper location, construction, testing, maintenance, protection and treatment of private drinking water supplies including wells and springs. Participants may bring ONE sample per household of their drinking water for onsite water testing to include: bacteria, pH, total dissolved solids, and nitrate.
