POLICE REPORTS: Criminal Complaints

The following are police criminal complaints filed at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Lawrence County office of Honorable Jerry G. Cartwright.

According to a complaint, on Thursday, October 3 at approximately 7:00am, PA State Police responded to a one-vehicle crash on State Route 168 near the intersection of Patterson Road that led to the DUI arrest of Kevin Walker, 49, of New Galilee. A silver Jeep Laredo was over an embankment and the operator had left the scene on foot. The fire department on scene related to a male in his 40’s, with short hair and a Steelers t-shirt had walked down the driveway of a nearby address. Later, on scene, a vehicle pulled up with a subject relating to know the male operator of the crashed vehicle. Police then made contact with Walker and noted a Steelers t-shirt laying outside the residence. Police asked Walker to complete a field sobriety test which he failed. The witness returned to the scene and positively identified Walker as the driver. Walker was arrested and charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, careless, and reckless driving.

According to a complaint, on September 28th at approximately 6:00pm, PA State Police responded to a call from a victim who arrived at Heritage Valley Hospital in Beaver County with injuries sustained the prior evening. The victim expressed Charles Shutack, 46, of Darlington, came home extremely intoxicated and began to argue with the victim in front of kids and later was grabbed by her throat and choked, struck in the face and thrown to the ground. Shutack refused to leave the residence after a baby sitter and aunt arrived on the scene. Shutack is charged with simple assault, harassment, and strangulation.

A July traffic stop on the North Side led to narcotics seizure and two arrests. Ellwood City Police stopped a vehicle operated by Amber Perrine, 24, of Ellwood City, with male passenger Logan Sager, 26, of New Castle. Perrine, based on prior dealings, was asked to exit the vehicle to speak with the officer and later admitted there were syringes and baggies in the car. After searching the vehicle, officers located and seized multiple, used syringes, black digital weight scale, silver metal keychain pill container with suspected crystal methamphetamine. Neither admitted to being the possessor of the evidence.

In June, Brooks Robinson, 27, of Ellwood City was reported to have stolen a checkbook, forged a victim’s signature and deposited checks in the victim’s name. Robinson is reported to have stolen the checkbook from a mailbox on Shady Lane sometime on June 24, 2019. The victim further related his bank informed him that forged checks had been deposited at the Citizen’s Bank inside Giant Eagle in New Castle. Surveillance and transaction record determined a total of $1,400 deposited and video showed an individual matching Robinson’s description. Robinson is charged with theft, receiving stolen property, access device fraud, forgery, and disorderly conduct.

Lynne Jensen, 24, of Portersville, is charged with DUI after police stopped her vehicle on September 26 at approximately 12:30am after Jensen failed to negotiate a turn by Ellwood City McDonald’s and continued weaving upon the roadway traveling north across the 5th Street bridge. Police conducted a traffic stop in the 7-11 parking lot where Jensen failed her field test.

Lori Waddell, 60, of Rochester, is charged with DUI after police stopped her vehicle on September 25 after Waddell was observed driving out of the Hazel Manor parking lot to travel south on Fifth Street, failing to signal and safely negotiate the roadways. Police conducted a traffic stop where Waddell failed a field sobriety test.
