Final Opportunity For Vietnam Veteran To Have Name Applied To Memorial

Any Vietnam Veteran from Lawrence County who served in Vietnam or during the Vietnam War Era that missed the opportunity to have his or her name applied to the Lawrence County Vietnam Veterans Memorial can now do so by mailing a copy of a DD214 to the Lawrence County Vietnam Veterans Committee.

Mailing address for the committee is Lawrence County Vietnam Veterans Memorial, PO Box 7352, New Castle, PA 16101.

Only DD214’s sent to the above address will be honored, do not leave or drop off a copy of your DD214 elsewhere – it will not be accepted. No DD214’s will be accepted after December 31, 2019.

A dedication and unveiling of the memorial took place at Cascade Park in New Castle last month.

The memorial, a four-foot by six-foot slab of black marble includes the names of Lawrence County residents who sacrificed their lives in Vietnam on one side and a list of every Lawrence County resident who served during the war on the other.

According to the Lawrence County Historical Society, 4,500 Lawrence County residents served in the Vietnam War.
