BURGLARY: A 37-year-old man has been charged with burglary after an incident on June 28th in Wampum. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 11:53 a.m., police were dispatched to Wampum Park Housing complex for reports of burglary. Video surveillance shows Robert Grim arriving at the complex at approximately 2:03 a.m. and entering through a window located at the rear. U.S. Attorney Chung Announces HIDTA Designation for Lawrence County

United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung announced this week that Lawrence County has been officially designated as a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) by the White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy. LHS Class of ’54 Holds “Make-Up” Reunions

The Lincoln High School Class of 1954 held a “66th, 67th and 68th COVIDs Make-Up Reunions” earlier this month. The class got together on Friday, July 1st at Smokin’ Dave’s BBQ according to Clemmy Sirimarco. John and Pat Tino, Ilene Gardner and Pudue LaCava led a meet and greet at 11:30 a.m. as attendees entered the reunion. The 4th beautification award was presented by Mayor Anthony Court to Eileen McKelvey of 227 Crescent Avenue. “Congratulations, Eileen! You did a great job! Senate Passes 2022-23 State Budget that Cuts Taxes, Funds Essential Services

HARRISBURG – The Senate approved a $45.2 billion General Fund Budget for Fiscal Year 2022-23 that meets the needs of Pennsylvanians today without creating multi-billion-dollar budget deficits in the future, according to Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47), who voted for the measure. Senate Bill 1100 now goes to the governor’s desk for enactment into law. The $45.2 billion budget, which also includes federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, represents a 2.9% increase over the previous year’s spending – and $500 million less than Gov. HHSDR Provides Helling Stadium Update, Presents Proposal for Perry Lower Renovations

Representatives from HHSDR Architects/Engineers announced during Thursday night’s Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors meeting that construction is on track at Helling Stadium for the proposed September 28 completion date. They said that all the “in the mud” type work is finished. They expect the turf work to begin after Aug 8, which is the expected arrival date of the materials. Approximately 250 Columbia Gas Customers Are Experiencing Natural Gas Outage

According to an alert from Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania made available to the borough, approximately 250 customers are experiencing a natural gas outage in the Ellwood City area as of Thursday afternoon. The outage affects customers on Aetna Drive, Argonne Boulevard, Cavalier Court, Crabapple Lane, Crestview Drive, Dover Lane, June Lee Street, Meadowridge Drive, Peach Street, Plymouth Lane, Sewall Court, Skyline Drive, Sunset Boulevard, and Walnut Drive. Columbia Gas technicians are on site, and repairs are underway.
